What defines the 'heart" of Irvine to you?

I want a Mexican plaza... we need an Alberto's (or Alberta's/Alerto's/Albertaco's) in Irvine.

Jalapenos on Alton/Culver is pretty good.. lousy salsas though.. I wish we have good taco trucks like la Puente

Heart of Irvine...the square block of Paseo Westpark intersecting Barranca & Alton down to where Culver is

You got Target, Albertson's, Stonefire Grill, Weinersnchitzel, Claim Jumpers, Chili's, Olive Garden, Starbucks, Conroys, Sprouts, a few hole in the walls and the now Independent movie showing Edwards

I map googled "Irvine" it gave me Yale and Alton.... I'll go with that. Then I started to cruise around street view from there, it was nice out that day.

I think Irvine is only known by three major freeway exits... Jamboree, Culver, and Jeffrey.

Jamboree has the Market Place, The District, Diamond Jamboree Plaza, Airport Business District.

Culver has all the schools - Northwood, Irvine High, Woodbridge, University High, & UCI.

Jeffrey has...

I don't think Irvine has a heart - there are just so many centers.

For visitors, I think that Jamboree is the heart because it has all the major businesses (other than the Spectrum).

For residents, Culver is because it has all the schools.

Although technically not Irvine, my nomination goes to John Wayne Airport. In second place is the train station. The best part of Irvine is being able to leave quickly.

For some reason I think the "Heart" of Irvine as those little old buildings

that are in front of Tia Juana`s off Sand Canyon. Maybe because the first time I stayed

the night in Irvine was when the La Quinta first opened and I thought. Hey. This is Old Town

Irvine with its original Train Stop and buildings. They have some great photographs of Old Irvine in that La Quinta when you go into the Main Building.

Seems like for a lot of people the heart of Irvine is 5050 Barranca Parkway ---- the IUSD offices.

To me is the heart of Irvine is the Spectrum. Seeing its expansion from the 90's to what it is now reminds me of the growth of Irvine over the same time period.

Now if you asked me 10-15 years ago, I would have said Woodbridge and the adjacent centers like the Crossroads, and the center (cant think of the name) which is now the dollar theatre. Or another choice would have been Irvine High/Heritage Park/the Irvine library but now I think its shifted to the Spectrum.

That Denny's also has some neat old pictures of the area. For instance one of a huge herd of sheep near the big hangars.

To many of us Asians, its the corner of Culver & Irvine Center. 99 Ranch, Sam Woo to go, drugstore and JJ Bakery. Its a one stop shop. Old people spend their day there, its the social hub of the community for people west of the 5.

Although diamond jamboree plaza (despite its horrible entrance) is catching up fast.

I love the new Diamond Jamboree Plaza!

BBQ Chicken USA (Some of the best fried chicken ever! Beats KFC, Popeye's, Churches, etc., hands down)
