So its the Monday after the tragedy, and we have all talked to our children about what happened, and assured them it won't happen in their school even though we have our own doubts. Our byes this morning were a second longer. Some of us talked to teachers, some of us shared our thoughts with fellow parents, but some of us came to work without getting a minute to talk about it to a fellow parent.

How did your Monday go?

Mine: I am worried, but I will get over it after a normal day at school.

We mentioned it to our kids but only in a very general sense... also with assurances that this is not a common occurrence and that they should make sure to follow the emergency procedures that their teachers tell them in any type of event (earthquake, etc).

I think at their age, they don't understand the true horror of the tragedy... which is good but you also worry about that insulation.

I have one at that blessed age where a kick and punch can solve all problems. But the other is at an age where she is forming her own ideas, her own judgements based on the situation. She went to school without worries though. May be when you are a parent, you start wearing that invisible cape, and suddenly you feel responsible for everything, protective about your children- but when you are a kid, it's an easy life?
