Santa Ana gang violence down 40%

In 2011, the city saw a 45 percent drop in gang-related homicides, the most significant reduction since 2006.

Now, with gang homicides nearly back to levels not seen since 2000 in a city that is home to some 5,000 documented gang members, top brass at the Santa Ana Police Department are being recognized for efforts to stamp out gang violence ? historically a difficult task because of the reluctance of witnesses to step forward out of fear of retaliation.

Maybe Santa Ana PD is rounding them up and dropping them off in Irvine?

Plain and simple the SA gangbangers are busy now building homes in Irvine leaving little time to commit crime.
