Thinking about redoing kitchen cabinets to white, anyone try these products?

Depends on your skill with paint (including stripping, sanding, staining, finishing, etc).  Most of us can paint walls with a roller, but wood & wood with uneven surface is much harder.

I once spent considerable amount of time trying to stain and re-finish a table top, but after weeks I simply could not get an acceptable result (matching color).  Ended up calling the store and had them order a replacement top directly from the manufacturer for $90, which was pretty nice considering the table (storage chest style) was $500.  Local furniture repair guy wanted $300-$500 to lacquer it.

If you do decide on white for the kitchen, preferably you'd want nice and smooth cabinets with as little uneven surface as possible.  If oil/grease/smoke gets on the wood and dust get on top of it, it can get really ugly when you wipe.  If you use simple green to clean, it may leave a greenish residue on white surface.

Yes, I have used that exact product! -- Cabinet Transformations in Pure White.

PS9, I do **NOT** recommend this product!

I did a vintage solid walnut dining table with it and couldn't be more unhappy with the results.  :( A couple things:

1) The "Pure White" should be called Fiber Optic White! It is SO white. The best way to describe it would be like painting your entire piece with White Out. There is no warmth to it at all. I can't image the horror of having this glare in an entire kitchen.

2) The glaze included is AWFUL. Because of the hot white, I felt compelled to warm it up with the glaze. The only thing uglier than the white was the glaze. It is SO YELLOWY. The only way I can describe is the teeth / nails of a 65 year old chain smoker. It is just nasty. I even went easy on it.

I strongly recommend not using this product on your kitchen. If you are adamant about it, please test it out first on a wood piece you do not need. I hope this helps. I'd hate to see you do $$$$ worth of damage to your nice cabinets with this product like I did to my dining set. I also have a friend who used this product on her bedroom set to create a Shabby Chic look. It turned out gross just like mine. She's pissed.
