My mom's house in Irvine needs a new roof. She wants a black color. Roofer mentioned COOL roof guidelines as a reason to go for a lighter roof. Any truth to this? Left a message with the Building department but no call back yet. Irvine city website re-roofing page does not mention anything about COOL roofs. Thanks.
 
Assuming that she is in a HOA, she needs to talk to the HOA and get roof replacement docs. Most likely the HOA will want proof of insurance and submission to architectural review.
 
Yup, scheduled HOA meeting. Main question is the recommendation for a COOL roof which from what I can gather is not a requirement. Maybe we need another roofer.
