I thank the great city of irvine and current and future pavillion/great park residents for their thoughtfulness for giving our fallen soldiers a place to rest in peace.

The petition started by Joy Luck Realtyhttp://www.fuxi168.com/about-us/

I saw several people holding "no cemetery" signs at Pumpkin Glow in Pavilion Park last night.

We have democracy and freedom in this country because our soldiers fought and died for those things. So, it makes sense that the individuals opposed to the veterans cemetery hail from a country that has never known freedom or democracy.

i was being sarcastic - of course im on your side.  lets all be honest, when it comes to getting hit in the pocket book (by potentially decreasing the value of my house), it is NIMBYism to the fullest.  you want electricity, just not the power plant in the neighborhood, you want the cheap labor, but not the low income housing so the labor can live near work, etc.

I am also worry about tax.  It is 125 acres and it will be tons of money to build it.  I assume these money will come from tax.

i would think the operating expense would be funded by the federal government/department of defense.

Better hope that no one gets that petition list and post the names of the signers on to the internet.  It's like porn...once your signature gets put on the internet as being opposed to our dead soldiers....anyone can find it.

Don't leak it here...that would be bad.http://www.reddit.com/r/Veterans

There is a possible explanation for this huge difference in attitudes about veterans. In Communist China the military is used as a tool of oppression by a totalitarian state. For example, in 1989 Chinese soldiers did not hesitate to murder thousands of their fellow Chinese citizens in Tiananmen Square at the behest of the bloodthirsty Deng Xiaoping and his gang of thugs who rule the country. A similar outcome is possible with the current protests in Hong Kong. Everybody is wondering if the "People's Liberation Army" will be mobilized to suppress the demonstrations.

In the United State we have no similar experience because the military is controlled by our civilian government which is democratically elected. As a result, Americans have a different, friendlier view of veterans.

you misunderstand the point.  as PP resident, I dont want cemetery next to my house and that's include veteran cemetery.

again, I support veteran and soldier.  but just dont build in my backyard.  since the bill is written by fullerton council member, let's vote to build the cemetery in fullerton.
