Are there any amateur cartographers in the house? Do you like maps? Would you like the map of your area to reflect correct and up-to-date streets, shopping, parks, etc.? Do you want GPS programs to give accurate turn directions? Have you ever fooled around with Google Maps adding or moving markers for various features (like your local coffee shop) or even created a "My Map" --  like the map of all playgrounds in OC I saw linked in another thread?

If the answer to any of these questions is "yes" or if you are even a little bit curious how people without any special training or access are able to work daily on updating this "crowd sourced" map of the world (Irvine included), let me know.

I came to this forum looking for any information on the boundaries of Laguna Altura and I got it.  I joined because I thought a user community with so much knowledge and enthusiasm about Irvine and OC might want to participate in the process of shaping and filling out the truly open map of the world, starting with your neighborhood.
