Conversely, one could argue that the lack of awareness is not due to ingrained racism, but rather a complete and utter lack of racist thoughts. If you were not raised with racism, that picture would hold zero context for you, while it would be loaded with meaning if you were President of the KKK.

Look, you claimed this is so commonplace that they can't even see it and that they have no idea what they are doing. If that is true, then the picture would hold not racist implications to the Mayor or whomever else approved this. I pointed out another possible reason for ignorance; innocence.

You didn't charge the mayor with intentional racist behavior, so why are you acting as if I was apologizing for him and asking me for an explanation? He's the twit that said "White House lawn with watermelons, brilliant! Email it to everyone!", so go ask him.
