Native Foods vegan restaurant opens at The District

TUSTIN - Native Foods, a vegan restaurant founded by Chef Tanya Petrovna, is opening its third Orange County restaurant on Wednesday.

They plan to open 20 restaurants by the end of 2010. Other new restaurants in Orange County could be in San Clemente, Huntington Beach and Yorba Linda. Location details have not yet been finalized. The company also is planning to open shop in Los Angeles, San Diego and might open out-of-state in Boston or Chicago.

It's about time that vegetarian restaurants go mainstream instead of same old veggie burger nitch. One of the biggest complaints I have about vegetarian restaurants today is that so many of their dishes are made with... fake meat. Vegetarians are supposed to be good at cooking veggies, so give me veggies!

BTW on Saturday they're having a Squash Fest with 15 to 20 different types of squash to sample.
