Irvine parking issue

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I read that article this morning in the dead tree edition (I'm probably one of 12 paper subscribers to the OCReg).

I think it was really poor planning considering the school is off of Culver. I think it's good that the principal got IPD involved and the guy who's mad because his car got impounded and he has a suspended license... what is he mad about? Being caught?

The level of entitlement some people have is so ridiculous.

My thoughts exactly. He is going to get Montgomery fired also :-)
Most of the people at pick up don't follow rules- that's why they get a ticket, and that is perfectly justified. Just last year they ran over a kid, and three weeks ago a woman from North Park almost ran over a little boy crossing the street at HC- and honked at him, yelled- nobody bothered to even stop and ask the kid if he was alright. I am glad police interferes.

What's wrong with using...what are those things called that people use to get around without motor vehicles...oh yeah, feet.  I walked every day to catch a bus to my jr. high.  If ppl wanna drop off and pick up their child, so be it, but be patient and obey the traffic laws. Yes, the school might be designed poorly, but I have no problem with IPD enforcing the law.  That guy that got his car towed for illegally parking and now wants the principle fired...what a douche.  How about you don't illegally park.

Moral of the story:
1. If your BMW costs more than $130,000, it shouldn't be towed on school premises. Homer- take note.
2. If you can blog, please go ahead and tell the cops they have no business being there protecting other people's children- it's their fault they chose to walk. No one is responsible for the accidents that might be a collateral damage of multiple pick-up schedule management. CZ - take note.

Go Matt Mahoney! Issue them tickets. Bad parking and traffic design is no excuse for bad driving.
How are things in Irvine? College park parents tell me it's a nightmare as well. Woodbury?

Since when does a BMW 550i cost $130K??  Even if it's souped up, the guy put in 70~80K of aftermarket stuff into the car??

Lol, I thought the same thing.  Maybe a fully loaded M5 with some extras.

My first thought after reading this was if you're sitting in your car for thirty minutes you can surely walk your kid to school and walk back home during that time.  Then I read that it was a TUSD school and was wondering if the same planners who came up with the District design were the ones responsible for this apparently horrendous design.  I don't think I would want to cross Culver with the loco, distracted, self-absorbed entitled drivers who don't think twice about speeding and running red lights.

The comments in that article are insane.  I think I would be sending my child to that school wearing a bullet proof vest because it sounds like some of the parents are about to go postal.

Yikes...scary parent drivers out there. Kanavos has no credibility after being angry for losing his his Bimmer after making an illegal turn. He should suck it up and admit fault. Firing the school principal is not the solution. He should work with the PTA and administration to come up with viable solutions. Based on this YouTube video of Fox News http://youtu.be/BPytISwo3ng-- it sounds like the administration is already starting to work with the City of Irvine to come up with answers. In the mean time hopefully no goes postal.
