One of the hits on Romney during the primary was that nobody wanted to vote for the boss who just downsized his job to India. The Romney = rich CEO theme was pretty successful even before the shit hit the fan and all hell broke loose. That connection would not have been beneficial to Romney had he been the nominee and I think he would have lost by an even bigger margin than McCain did.
