Now that I've moved, I have this honkin 36'' sony trinitron tv I want to upgrade to a LCD. I've tried posting it on Craigslist for $250...no responses. Any idea where I can get rid of this thing?

Just like homes...lower your price and it will sell.

I sold a 27" Sony on Craigslist a few months ago for $80, asked $100.

36" you could probably get $140-160.

SCHB

I doubt anyone will pay a 36" tube for more than $50 unless it is HD......I gave my away....not worth the effort to sell, dude...

My father sold his 4 year old 36 inch Sony Wega HD on Craigslist for $200 about 3 months ago. He was just giddy that he found a sucka to pay that for it. Even better, he got the guy to come over with his buddy and haul that monster out of there for him. That thing weighed about as much as a Hyundai.

Wow, I'm trying to get rid of my 36" Sony too. I told all my friends, family, co-workers, etc. that it's free to whoever can haul it away. No takers. It's just sitting in the corner collecting dust.

yeah, we gave ours away this summer on Craigslist, just so we wouldn't have to pay someone to haul it down the stairs for us. I tell ya though, there's a lot of flakes on Craigslist!

I am in the process of trying to get rid of my boy's twin size bedframe which has a built in bookcase. It is heavy. I probably need to pay someone to get ride of it. I won't trust anyone from craigslist to come to my house.

here's a thought - take all your old furniture you want to get rid of and "furnish" one of the houses in the unfinished communities out there (Villa Rosa, Celadon, etc.). Would have to watch out for communities with security systems set up - but those are usually set up after fixtures have been installed...

back in high school we would take old appliances and fixtures from remodeled homes and furnish peoples lawns, school, and the like...

Call Salvation Army, they will send a truck and a couple of people to pick it up at your place. They take certain furniture and TVs too. Be prepared that they will reject some/all of the items you are offering.

also, not everybody knows that, but you can call your trash company, they have heavy items pick-up (I believe they only allow this once a month).

@##$@# to Sony for making TV's this heavy...and @#$@# to me even more for buying a TV this heavy. It had nice picture when I first got it though, I thought it was badass 5 years ago. Now, I take a look at the Samsung LCD's, and I'm just in awe. I want one. HAHA

I'm with you on the heaviness - I have a 32" Sony that weighs about 150 pounds. That's one of the things we're looking forward to least about moving whenever we do. I'm trying to strike a deal with my wife that we will just leave it and replace it with a new flat-screen

The funny thing is...when I moved, I hired a moving company. Three big guys, football player-sized. They took a look at my furniture, and were all set to start moving. Then they saw my Trinitron, and it was like they were trying to flip a coin to get out of moving it.

now that I think about it, what were they thinking making a tv that heavy. I could prob carry a 46'' LCD on my own and move it to whatever room I like.

I have a Sony 32" and it's listed as being 140lbs. The last Toshiba 32" I helped move was about 100lbs. I don't get it.

Our 42" panel is about 50.

shooby, we have a Samsung 47", we had a problem with the convergence so the TV Repairman came round, took it away and brought it back the next Day, perfect. I was asking him what he thought of Samsung TV's and he said they were one of the best Brands and he also said that Samsung produce Sony TV's in the same Factory! I didn't believe him untill I did some research on google and he was right...

So when the time comes to Shop for a TV look at Samsung, they're WAY less spendy, made at the same Factory as Sony and the picture is just as good...

I should add this to my old "Saving money" thread....
