I'm coming out. Hi. I'm SoCal78.

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
nice to meet you amber.  the nice thing about being semi anonymous is that you can share personal details without feeling fully naked

i say semi anonymous as once you start sharing enough, its not hard to figure out the "real" you.  for example, you noted who your RE agent was for your house purchase and if someone was inclined, they can find which houses closed with that agent and the rest is easy.

i enjoy being able to talk about salary, savings goals, buying house with cash or loan, and stuff i otherwise would not normally discuss with my friends.  but if someone really cared, they probably could figure out who i am.  i provided my race, HS, college, apartment details, which houses i am looking at, salary and a host of other personal details.

maybe one day i will be brave enough to post a pic and a name :)

just curious why you would not talk about salary/savings, etc with your friends? im very open about salary, i have been since i started working in college. This one of those things that society tells you is inappropriate to discuss, but not sure why. As long as you know what someone does you will have a general idea what they make.

I guess salaries are kind of viewed as the ultimate measuring stick of success and people must feel uncomfortable discussing that.

Ditto that, I never understood why people are so sensitive when it comes to discussing salary and/or savings.  At the end of the day, it is what it is.  I know that I make more than some people and less than others.  I actually am always glad to hear when my friend are doing well, even if it's better than me.  I guess I focus on the positive and not get caught up in all the jealousy and hating.  That being said, I've never been one to be a very private person as I have nothing to hide...I am who I am.

actually with close friends, we are open about salaries and savings.  most of them i grew up with and we are proud when we get promos or better gigs.  even with the extended circle of friends, most people have a general idea of what a job category makes and with so many sites that publish data, its not hard to get within 10%.

nonetheless, i can get open feedback here on a question like how much i should put down or whether to take a loan at all from a  community that doesnt really care or compare with me personally.  i would feel weird posting that question on facebook though.  it would feel like bragging i guess.

need to think about this more...

there is also the safety and security aspect.  if we were discussing buying gold coins and storing them, i wouldnt want everyone to know that i have gold coins in my house.

Since I've been posing on the Irvine forums for almost 5 years now ( I know it is sick ) i guess it is time for me to come out too. I better behave now on TalkIrvine and not act like a 15 year old kid.

Socal, no exciting holiday plans as of yet... but come Dec, My two little panda will experience their first family vacation to Juno and Jupiter Beach! :)

Future mayor and Mike Dunn of Johns Creek :)

awwwhh.. you guys.. i am almost in tears, you guys just made my day :)

The twins are so cute and I bet they are even bigger now since that pic was taken a few months ago or more, I believe. How old are they now?? Your whole family is photogenic. Mrs. Panda is pretty. Now you have your first set of "headshots" for your real estate site.  ;)

Socal, thanks for the kind words. Our boys are now 19 months. :)

Time flies by doesn't it? I found Irvine Housing Blog after I've been married for one year right when i hit 30. That's almost 5 years ago. My wife and I weren't sure if we can have kids back then.

I can't believe i've known some of you this long. :) Patstar.. it is cool seeing you still lurk around here time to time.

You are GORGEOUS, Socal! I mean, Amber! (As are your boys.)

For all those that have "come out," I admire you greatly! Maybe someday I'll have the courage to do the same...

I don't think I would ever deface the internet by putting my picture on it... it would shut down and all you guys would be in the dark ages again.

If that were true... I would probably be spending less time on TalkIrvine.  :D
