I'm spending a long weekend in SF and need a good hotel recommendation. Looking for the Golden Gate and Fisherman's Wharf areas. Relatively inexpensive...$170 max/night.

Thanks in advance!

Are you driving or flying?

Last time we went we stayed at the Westin (was only $139 via Expedia) and was really nice but the parking was expensive, $40 per night. The nice thing was it was close to lots of places and we took public transportation (trolley bus) to the Wharf. For Golden Gate, we drove there when we checked out.

Hyatt regency is usually first up on priceline, check biddingfortravel.com if you don't know how to bid on priceline.  Can't get any cheaper, parking is expensive wherever you stay.  Visit some of the non tourist areas for great Chinese food, richmond, irving, sunset, etc

Driving...going with another couple and taking their car. They want to stay at the Comfort Inn by the Bay, as they stayed there before and enjoyed it. I prefer to stay somewhere...umm...a bit nicer. Mixed reviews for this hotel, and some complaints about how rundown it is.

Thanks for the rec IHO. I'll check out the Westin.
