Half-way done with school year, almost, but syllabus?

We cleaned out the middle schooler's backpack yesterday and as a responsible parent, I went through her text books, trying to check how much of it was covered already. They are barely at the half way mark, and the state testing is four months away.
Ex: they are teaching chapter 4, and there are 12 of them in Math.
Same thing with Social studies and Science.
I think they are on track with the reading and language arts.

As a parent, what do you do? Teach ahead, or just coach/help with whatever they can't deal with as the teacher starts jumping/speeding thru the chapters? I am little worried, thinking of teaching a chapter ahead in science and math, letting her study Social studies on her own.

Your two cents?
(No wonder her school went from being number one to 23)

Hello and Happy New Year CZ,

I'd recommend sharing your concerns with the respective teachers.
They likely have a plan and it will settle your mind to know about it/participate in it.

If they don't have a plan, you'll at least know that you're expending your valuable energy with good reason.
If they do have a plan, I'm sure you'll have other places to focus your exceptional talents. :)

Nobody likes surprises in RE or education...

Best wishes,

Hmm... am the only worried parent, or am the only parent with an older child? :)
