Give Americans a tax incentive to buy an American Car

It could be no tax or a tax deduction. If this does not save them they should fail. No point in giving them a hand out if we don't buy the cars?? Any other ideas??
 
I do not want an American car.. . it is not worth me getting stranded on the side of the road, having to cough up $$$$ for repairs 50K miles later, or surrounding myself with cheap leather, mismatched plastic components, and illogical instrumentation.
 
I dunno, I own 2 american cars. A Dodge Magnum and a Chevy Suburban. I bought them because they filled a need and I liked em, Still do.
 
Let them go into bankruptcy and have the gov’t back the car’s warranty. Jack Welch suggested this idea in his column in Business Week.

hundreds of billions to buy pref stock in wobbly financial institutions or mortgage-backed assets... no problem for the mighty US of A!

guarantee repairs on ford exploder... end of an empire :(
 
In my car driving/riding experience, I have not yet been inside an American-made car that I enjoyed.

Parents owned a Chevy Cavalier wagon. . . numerous problems within 60K. Sold it for a Toyota Corolla (which went 150K+ with no major problems). Also owned a Ford Taurus. . .A/C broke down and had to replace the radiator every year or so.

Have driven in countless rental cars and viewed them only as an instrument to take me from point A to B. The only tolerable car that I found was the Chrysler Sebring. However, would get a Civic, Accord, Sentra, Altima, or host of other foreign cars before considering that one.
 
How about every American has to read The Constitution and then take an exam, so they could know just what the government is responsible for and what the government is supposed to keep it's nose out of?

I drove My ranger for 280k with exactly two problems. A heater diverter valve and a alternator. My focus was reliable and I drove it 30k miles a year for 2 years and 8k miles after that. ZERO problems, I had to replace my crap-tacular tires and worn brakes, but that was about it.
