Fios or Uverse

NEW -> Contingent Buyer Assistance Program
I have U-Verse and its ok... not all that and a bag of chips but it doesnt suck. Im not a fan of Verizon...of anything Verizon, because I had to work with them for a few years and they are entitled, rude, unprofessional wankers. Not to mention bastard covered bastards filled with bastard.

Bitter party of 1?

That would have been a much better title for Tarantino's new movie.

In space?

That FiOS isn't available in Irvine is a major disappointment. A casual computer user might not really notice the difference, but I don't know a single techie who doesn't drool at the thought of 50 Mbps down and 20 Mbps(!!!!) up.

FiOS is fiber right into your home. It's the right way to do it, but costs a lot. Verizon has taken a lot of flak from people saying they're wasting so much money doing a full fiber to the home rollout.

U-Verse is a hack. Thrown together by AT&T because they were too cheap to do fiber to the home, but needed something to compete with FiOS. Inferior to FiOS in every way. But because of our lame telecom laws, some people can only get U-Verse and then there are the places that can't get either...

Except it costs $139.95/month to get that speed.

I know techies who used availability of FiOS as one of their search criteria for buying a house.

You can always get a cheaper plan if you don't need that much speed, but I know plenty of people who would pay even more than that if 50/20 was available in their area.
