Yesterday was my last day at work (outsourced!), the company was quick with depositing $$$$ to my account so I figured it was time to start my culinary adventures again.

My first stop today was Chiang Rai in Tustin, a Michelin rated Thai restaurant. We went early and was able to get seats for lunch easily.

I ordered 4 dishes from the Chaing Rai local food section from bottom left of the menu (front page). Let me save you some time, go straight for the Khao Soi beef curry.

Moo Sham Chan Tod (pork) is OK. Skip the chicken wings.

Afterwards I went to Morning Lavender for drinks and watch my blood sugar level spike.

Sorry to hear about the job loss Momo - hopefully you get to double dip on the severance. In the meantime enjoy your culinary adventures!

Sadly the severance was less than market rate, but at least I got some. Can't really argue the economics of replacing myself with a contractor abroad that cost 1/5th. Debating on seeking contract employment myself after taking a break. Anyone know a good agency?

Next restaurant on the list is House of Mandi in Anaheim in a week or so. Between then I want to visit some local Deli's and specialty stores. There's a couple Kosher places in LA that sells low carb bagels, need to pay them a visit.

My Stelo sensor just ended the session a day early. It's a sign that I should go get some cream pan...

Sorry to hear about your job momo.

How is Chiang Rai compared to Manaoo? They are opening another location in Irvine Spectrum where Corner Baker/Dog Store used to be.

Chiang Rai is really good, but about 10-15% more expensive with 10-15% less portion than other local Thai restaurants. To me, it's not worth the tradeoff..
