Picked up from Downey Toyota for $29.995 + ttl = $32.934 otd
Previous best offer was $30.500 for MSRP $38.844 from Torrance Toyota. So Downey beat my previous offer even though their sticker price was higher... so I got more car for even less price. Don't know how it all came down like this.. Started the morning at King's Hawaiian with a monster breakfast to get ready for my marathon car buying session at Torrance Toyota. During the drive there, had my wife check my email on the phone and saw a response to my offer from Downey Toyota. I initially offered $30.700, they email countered at $36.189 and said that's the best they can do and would check with desk manager. A few minutes later, got a quote again (without me countering) at $29.995. So drove from Torrance to Downey, test drove the car (8 miles only), pricing was confirmed, signed the papers, finance manager was actually not pushy, paid cash and took delivery of car in about 1&1/2 hours.. It was one of the easiest car purchases ever for me..
In the end it was a combo of random chance and 1 month buying experience that got me the deal.. Been shopping for almost a month so I'm very familiar with Avalon's MSRP pricing. This helps so when a good price comes along I can jump on it without a second thought...Dealers I emailed were all over the board with their offers... one dealer had 4 Limited, same color, same MSRP but would not budge on pricing...Downey only has 1 Limited and was 25% off MSRP.. My goal was 22-23% off MSRP. Got all the same familiar responses "But I'm losing $1500 on this deal, can't sell it", "if i give you this price will you come down tonight?", etc.
Maybe my next car in 7 years will be a Hyundai...
