Just looking for your opinions on backyard ideas. Here's the lot. I drew over the lot plan using Microsoft paint

I am gathering ideas before I speak to a landscape architect, so I can get as many opinions/choices as I can get. We're on a tight budget, so if I can bypass a landscape architect completely, that will be a huge plus.
Necessary spaces are:
1) place for patio table/chairs
2) flat place for kids to play w/ water tables, chalk, etc.
3) grass area for dogs to do their business
We don't want to install BBQ, fire pit, or water feature.
The area directly in front of the main sliding doors is not deep (9 feet, perhaps less if we need to leave 2 feet of space against property wall) but needs to look appealing since that is the view from the dining room.
