There should be a public service announcement. . . we can hire some washed up actor (suggestions?)

It would go something like this:

Innocent buyer: But [insert C list celebrity name here], my realtor and mortgage broker tell me that $1 million for a 2 bdroom house in Irvine is a great deal. They keep telling me that it is a great time to buy and I need to buy before I get priced out

Celebrity: No, Innocent buyer, the fundamentals just do not support such a purchase. You need to walk away.

Innocent buyer's realtor: Do not listen to him. It is a great time to buy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Celebrity: Just look at the other homes selling in the area (shows stats).

IB realtor: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

IB: Thanks, Mr. Celebrity. I think I will go find a nice rental.

Celebrity: No problem, IB. [Turn toward camera], If this happens to you, you need to put the pen down and walk away and if you know someone who is thinking about buying, remember: "Friends don't let friends make offers"
