My New Year's Resolution is probably the opposite of many people's.
Spend more money.
I have this problem where I delay purchases and delay big purchases for long, long periods because I do not like to part with money. I've always been much more of a saver and careful spender. I never really liked taking vacations. If I'm going to be forced to spend, I'd rather do it on a tangible item... something to show for it or, preferably, something that will appreciate in value. Last year I decided to start travelling more now that my boys are getting older and will be old enough to have some memories. We have done exactly that. I have booked quite a few trips in the last year. We've had fun although I'm doing it for them, not myself. I could do just fine without it. I'm more of a homebody. Anyway, this year I'll continue to play "Cruise Ship Director" of the family while also forcing myself to continue furnishing and decorating my home. Again - a money issue for me. I just really feel sick at the idea of blowing a lot of dough... but I do realize it's okay to spend wisely, in moderation. A new couch to replace my old, broken one is not the same as reckless, wasteful spending even if it's just as hard for me to do.
