2008 New Year's Resolutions

Cali brings up a good point. . . what is up with the lights in Irvine. It can take me up to 10 minutes go from 5 to the 405 when driving on Sand Canyon. It is literally like a 2 mile drive.

Don't want to hijack, but I haven't yet thought about those resolutions (every thought of anything productive gets the answer "after the holidays" in my house) but I have to second the lights in Irvine. I think it's just another deterrent to keep the undesirables away, crazy streets and long lights, it drives me crazy!

I resolve to quit coffee.

I resolve to stop drinking.

I resolve to give up smoking.

I resolve to abstain from sniffing glue.

I resolve to not take amphetamines.

I resolve to start gambling 30 hours a week.

I resolve to help a few friends get a good deals on the homes. When they are available, make payments on the loans I have forwarded them. When the time comes help others that might be in need (with guideance of course).

I woke up today and realized that I didn't really decide on resolutions (my several on-going efforts pre-date the new year so they don't really count), so here is what I'm making up for the sake of this thread:

* Finish projects around the house, thereby reducing the clutter in my house.

* Acquire FEWER My Little Ponies than in years past because, seriously, I don't have the room.

* Make more memories and have more adventures!

* I did finish some projects, including organizing my office closet and re-arranging a pile of stuff in the garage. I bought a china cabinet, and that has helped a lot. I have donated a ton of stuff to various charitable organizations and sold a few items on eBay.

* I did acquire fewer My Little Ponies than in years past (says the girl who just got a box from Canada yesterday)

* I did make more memories and have more adventures!

I did pretty well! This year:

* Lose at least 8 more lbs before my sister's wedding in May.

* Save more money

Not to nitpick, but if you resolve not to make a resolution, you broke your resolution. Not making resolutions without resolve makes more sense to me.

No big deal. But I agree that making New Years resolutions is really quite foolish. If you need to change something in your life, why wait until the beginning of a new year to start?

Well, I lost about 5 lbs.....and I have gone to see my folks many times more than in 2007. I def gave more this year to..... so yes, I believe I accomplished most of my resolutions.

This year ? I resolve to do whatever I can to help repeal Prop 8. Oh, and save more money for future downpayment.

So let me preface my resolutions with this: I'm into self-improvement year round. I've been continually educating myself in subjects such as history, philosophy, learning more martial arts, along with computer engineering/architecture.

So, my new years resolutions are kind of the opposite of a lot of peoples:

I resolve to show up to work with a hangover every few months after a crazy random night out with some friends.

I resolve to end up in random situations at a random house party and meeting people I woudln't have otherwise met.

I resolve to travel more spontaneously, and end up in a foreign country next year.

Its easy for me to get into a rut of working hard, reading and studying hard, and not living enough. So thats why mine might appear a little more unorthodox.

(and to finish my garbage collector that i've been working on for fun. Gotta have some nerd-related resolution) ;-)

Uhm, I'm pretty good at martial arts, dancing....not so much. I figure if I end up in a commited relationship, it might be something I'd try...but I'm not going to try and pick up girls as i'm learning how to not look like a fool dancing. ;-)

Uhm, I'm pretty good at martial arts, dancing....not so much. I figure if I end up in a commited relationship, it might be something I'd try...but I'm not going to try and pick up girls as i'm learning how to not look like a fool dancing. ;-)

I did Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Escrima and a few other for nearly 14 years. I enjoyed it alot and then picked up dacing. Believe me, when you see the professional dancers we all feel that we are just kinda amaturing around. I don't anything wrong in the comment of dancing fool! More like "Dancin' Foo!" :lol:

Ability to remember later is directly correlated to the level of debauchery he engages in.
