Newport Coast

I'm curious about this property in the Summit in Newport Coast. http://www.redfin.com/CA/Newport-Coast/18-Dauphine-92657/home/5528859 We recently sold there, and I think just before the bottom really...

RHOC Tamara Barney's house now listed as short sale

There's also a "lifestyle fee" equal to about one quarter of one percent of the purchase price that buyers in Ladera Ranch have to pay. What "lifestyle" I'm not sure. That place has all the authenticity and charm of the Universal Studios backlot. It creeps me out to go there. I can't imagine...

East Bluff and Newport Heights/Cliff Haven Question

You should be aware, though, that the restrictions on airplane traffic at John Wayne expire in 2012. That whole area is directly underneath the approach/departure corridor.

Loan rejected because HOA doesn't have adequate hazard insurance?

We've been over the HOA financials. They're not going under, and they have the statutorily required amount of insurance. I'm beginning to think that the lender is the one with the financial problems and is looking for a way to back out.

Loan rejected because HOA doesn't have adequate hazard insurance?

We live in a condo complex, and our unit is in escrow. The lender just rejected the buyer's loan (a buyer who is "more than qualified" in the lender's own words) because they say our HOA doesn't carry enough hazard insurance. Has anyone else heard of this happening?

    July 28th California goes bust

My father-in-law works with trains, and he has to work with all of these agencies. He complains because there's no coordination. They all have their own research departments telling them different things. SCAQMD wants his company to pursue hydrogen fuel cell technology while CARB wants them...

    Stupid Disclosures

We're currently in escrow on our house. Just got the disclosure forms. We have to disclose that we live in a condo. As if the common walls weren't a tip-off. This is why we're in this mess--regulation in place of common sense and critical thinking. EDIT: I should clarify...

    July 28th California goes bust

Laying off that many state workers will cause a problem, but the size of the state government needs to be reduced, and it's not a big gov. v. small gov. thing. There are *four* agencies in charge of air quality in Southern Cal. Why? It's too easy in CA for people to carve out their own little...

The high-end is immune....uh oh, somebody better tell that to the St. Regis Hotel

I never understood the attraction of the St. Regis. My wife and I stayed there one night for an event. First and foremost, it's a beach resort that isn't on the beach. Second, it's the most poorly laid out hotel in the world. I felt like we needed a ball of string to find the lobby from our...

    The OC Great Park

Most of the organizations that opposed the airport didn't care whether a park was ever built. They just didn't want an airport. The Great Park was a white(green?)wash to get the public on board with them.

    Seller Financing

Thanks for all of the advice. After talking to our Realtor to get some more information, we decided against it. There were just too many red flags.

    Seller Financing

We have our house on the market in Newport Coast. It's not a distressed sale. We're trying to sell because we want to move out of state. We bought in 2002, so even in this market, we're going to make a profit. Today I heard of a potential offer, but they wanted to know if we'd be open to...

    San Clemente--How Much Kool-Aid?

This property is on the same street as my in-laws: http://www.redfin.com/CA/San-Clemente/553-Avenida-Buenos-Aires-92672/home/499533 It's been on Redfin for 77 days, but I know it's been on the market for longer than that. They're asking $1,799,999 for it. The listing indicates that...

    Newport Coast

I posted a few months ago about renting v. selling our condo in the Summit. We're not upside-down or anything like that. We have 30-year fixed mortgage. We're not in any danger of foreclosure. Our problem is that, for many reasons both personally and professionally, we would really, really...

    Newport Coast

We live in the Summit. We really want to move to North Carolina, so last July, we put our house on the market. We weren't trying to make a huge profit. We really just wanted enough for a down payment on a nice house just outside of Charlotte. We were the lowest price in the neighborhood for...
