My favorite place to check Orange County closed sales is <a href="http://realty.fatwalletdeals.com/login.html">http://realty.fatwalletdeals.com/login.html</a>. You have to register, but it is free. You can check active and closed listings by city.

    Too Fat!

Maybe Tenmagnet is referring to the <a href="http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/0,1518,532346,00.html">recent news</a> that all blue eyed people are related? If not, do tell!

Orange County loses 19,400 jobs over the month, 13,000 jobs over the year

What truly enfuriates me is that when prices skyrocketed in the last few years, property taxes for those homes sold was so much higher than what it should have been had the bubble not increased due to the credit creativity. You would think that someone would have the foresight to save...

Orange County loses 19,400 jobs over the month, 13,000 jobs over the year

In the public school system, you have to have taught a minimum of 3 years in the classroom to become a school administrator. You can't even get your admin. credential without the 3 years. In general, teachers are not moved to other schools unless they ask for a transfer. Teachers do like to...

Are we ever going to afford a house in OC?

Blackacre, You misunderstood my comment. You were talking about people living in nice areas that are part of Santa Ana who vaguely referred to the area they lived in for what you said was a stigma. What I find sad is that anyone would think less of themselves (hence the word stigma) for where...

    First Vacation to Hawaii

Kauai also has a wet side and dry desert-like side. Poipu has weather similar to California and then if you keep going a very isolated desert like beach. Then on the other side of the island is the wet side. Very cool. Loved it! The helicopter ride was very cool but my favorite was the...

Are we ever going to afford a house in OC?

<em>"There is also a certain stigma attached to having this kind of a zip code, especially if you hang out with professionals and folks who make over 100K a year. I know a couple of people from work who live there, but they always vaguely refer to living in "Heights," "close to South Coast...

    FORECLOSURE PREVENTION PLAN.....

I am not savvy about future interest rates for sure, but I still wouldn't trust someone who was making money off of selling me a product if he/she said that they were not going to go up. If your rate is adjustable, I think you have to assume that you that your rate might adjust up, not...

    FORECLOSURE PREVENTION PLAN.....

Sorry for your predicament tiredof, but I'm confused as to why you thought your rate would not go up. Did you understand that the "A" in ARM stood for ADJUSTABLE? That is, if you did not take out a fixed loan then your rate would adjust. Why would you trust someone just because they said it...

Recommendation for B + B or Inn - Coastal area

The hub and I stayed at <a href="http://www.bluelanterninn.com/">The Blue Lantern Inn</a> in Dana Point once. Loved it and really quite reasonable for the location. Have fun Trooper's friends!

The government is looking for payback!

xsocal, Why wouldn't you recommend a reverse mortgage? My grandparents are thinking of taking out a reverse mortgage (in their 90s) but the small bit of research on them that I've done via the AARP website leaves me unsure due to the high fees and such. What would you suggest for an elderly...

I thought at that age once you ran out of money you became a ward of the state, so to speak, and that Medical would take over. Not sure about this, but this has always been my belief.

Banks Raise Credit Card Interest Rates for no Reason!!

Reason, This happened to me before and I called to complain. They took off the fee because I was a good customer and didn't want to lose my business. Couldn't hurt to try it.

Countertops: Tile vs. Corian vs Granite, etc.

I wholeheartedly agree with the "no grout" rule. We put in slab granite out of personal preference and because my brother just happened to have enough left over from his kitchen remodel to fit perfectly in our kitchen and I loved the color ;-). I know of others who put in Corian or that...

Where to buy squaw bread in Irvine

Costco sells some dark molasses rolls. They don't call it Squaw bread but I think it's called Arizona something or other. I haven't tried it so can't vouch for it, but it looks good.
