I know that Detroit is an armpit..but this is just beyond sad.. rop

I don't know, I'd rather leave emptying neighborhoods and buildings in place, they could end up like historic ghost towns (like Bodie CA) or get re-purposed in some new way like SacFarm's post above...I personally wouldn't advocate tearing things down unless a structure becomes dangerous like...

    Unexpectedly Delicious Food Discoveries

Is it sold only in Mexican supermarkets or available in Ralphs/Vons/Albertsons? Is it actually sour cream? How did you use it, as a dip for chips or something else?

I know that Detroit is an armpit..but this is just beyond sad.. rop

This is a blog that describes the fall of Detroit over the past few years. http://www.detroitblog.org/ very interesting. Detroit seems like the city in the movie I Am Legend except without the zombies. It would definitely be a unique city...

Pacific Ranch Market in Orange at the corner of Chapman and Newport is a great local market, good cantaloupes, temecula oranges, meats and deli.

Less than 1989 pricing in nominal terms... you betcha!

re-sales potential of properties with the #4 street address

My grandparent's home that they bought in the 40's or 50's was 4141 which sounds like die easy die easy. It's probably very unlikely there is or ever will be a 4141 address in Irvine ha ha. My wife is a big fan of lucky sounding numbers especially phone numbers. It doesn't have to be all 8s...

    MalibuRenter's summer in Dallas

I was in Dallas for a few days last week and stopped by some new home developments in Frisco and Lewisville. Most of the two story floorplans have master bedrooms on the first level, while in California most two story floorplans have the master on the second level. Have you noticed that in...

Are there any good Jewish Deli's in OC

We tried Benji's in Santa Ana today for lunch, great food and low prices. Brisket was very good. They have a happy hour from 3pm to 7pm in the Bamboo Lodge part of the deli, $4 for 1/2 sandwich plus macaroni salad.

What stocks do you own and why?

I already had equity exposure (S&P and Nasdaq ETFs) that would benefit from capital gains if the markets moved up; junk and preferred ETFs were good diversification opportunities in the 2nd quarter of the year for steady monthly income.
