    Professional Antenna installation

We got an attic antenna and split it using the cable box in our master closet.  Here's the company we used for install, and we were very happy with the work. http://betterwaytoconnecttv.com/ https://www.yelp.com/biz/better-way-to-connect-tv-ladera-ranch

    Antenna in attic

I know this may sound wonky...but we had an issue where if we turned on our recessed LED lights, we lost channels 7 and 9.  Are you using any LED lights near the TV or antenna?  Try turning them off and see if you get any channels.

    Shower Systems Question

Thanks for the replies.  I am finding that I'd rather just put what meets code and change around the basic stuff later myself (like shower heads, etc.).  It's annoying, but I don't like to compromise when it doesn't make logical sense to me :) We pulled permits for the bathroom remodel as we're...

    Shower Systems Question

We are in the middle of a major master bathroom remodel and are facing some design related decisions to meet code.  We currently have a shower with one diverter (just turn handle to turn on and cycle from cold to hot) and one shower output.  We are looking to put in a handheld shower in...

    Roth 401k

I would suggest doing both as well.  There are obvious tax benefits now versus later for the traditional if you have a high income tax bracket today.  However, the tradition IRA/401K plans are definitely less flexible and require things like minimum distributions (unlike the Roth).  There also...

How low can we go? 30 yr fixed at 3.75% with no fees...

For this new Wealth Building Home loan, if you have a high enough downpayment, can't you roll those points into the mortgage...it's not like the interest on that is much (at ~0.1%)?  What about the points as a deduction on your taxes?  Can you write them off all in one year if paid upfront?

Comp killers, bubble bursters, listings that make you want to go crazy reno/flip

Yea the white tiles on the tub and shower area are an eye sore.  I can't tell if the grout is dirty or if the grout is just dark.  Looks dirty to me.  Should have cleaned it up and applied white grout.  That way the whole thing just looks white rather than old school straight from the 90's.

    Tile Contractor

Yea that flooring depot place off 55 is where I found the tile.  However, it's always nice for someone on the forum to vouch for a contractor.  I feel like I can trust you guys...maybe  :o

    Tile Contractor

Really...no one has any recommendations!?  You're all just putting in gorgeous hardwood I guess :)

    Tile Contractor

Anyone have any good recommendations specifically for tile contractors.  We have selected the tile from a local tile/floor shop but they do not do installs.  The work would basically be ripping out existing flooring (mix of tile/mostly carpet) and laying new tile.  (And maybe baseboards if those...

Thanks all.  I got a recommendation and am going with that for now.  Will let you know how it turns out.  I have my own cleaning supplies :)

    [Poll] Door Knobs

Not sure what the selection is like right now, but we found some great prices and selection on costco.com.  When you're done polling :)

    Best Loan Choice 10yr ARM - 7yr ARM - 5yr ARM ?

I like ARMs.  I can't seem to find my nifty excel model, but if you were to assume the worst about rates and calculate how much money you would have in your pocket when you sell the place or pay it off, you may be surprised at the result. The lower principal balance at the reset and lower...

    Enclosing Office Loft Area

The hanging door solution which would mount outside of the arch probably isn't an option since there isn't a lot of wall to work with on either side of this arch.  Even if that worked, I do prefer the cleaner look of installed doors.  Ideally, I'd love to put up some panels of fixed glass on...

    Enclosing Office Loft Area

For the option of un-arching and putting in some support/drywall to add a standard french door or sliding door...does anyone have a recommendation for a contractor that would do something like that?

    Enclosing Office Loft Area

We have a loft area that has a built in office which is currently open to the hallway upstairs.  We are looking to enclose this with something like french doors (or sliding doors) so we can close this off if we need to block out noise and create some privacy when we work from home (baby is at...

    Recommendations for Gardening Service

We actually found a flyer for gardening service outside the house and have this person now coming to service our garden.  He has been good so far and shows up on the date/time we asked for.  He is also quite reasonably priced.  We'll see how well this goes.

    Recommendations for Gardening Service

Thanks, IHO.  I would appreciate the recommendation.  Unfortunately for us, most of my neighbors are avid gardeners and do their own yard work.  Either that or they just got fed up with dealing with others to do it.  With two kids at age two and under and both of us working full-time, we haven't...
