    Work in office or remote?

To them I say welcome to the club. Last year around this time I was pretty cheesed as I had made more of an impact the past year than any other year in my 20+ year career. And got the smallest % raise I had ever received. I recall seeing a headline that same week about the 8% annual inflation...

    Housing Analysis

Don't we agree the prices follow volume? Here' s a snippet of data from a small anonymous berg in socal. Understand that I've watched this little pocket closely (weekly, and for many years daily) for over 20 years. Things really tilted to the far end for several weeks in early 2022, when...

    ICE or EV?

If you just want a doodad that tells you how much power you use when, then look at the Emporia meter. Plug it in near the smart meter, tie it in to your network, download the app, and done. You get a pretty detailed picture of you consumption down to the second if you want it, though hourly...

    ICE or EV?

It's not as quick as the Plaid...but either is more than quick enough for me. The meaningful difference, from what I've read, is that the Taycan lives up to its reputation as a Porsche, whereas the Plaid lives up to its reputation as a Tesla lol.

Thought we were talking about Taycans? https://www.motortrend.com/news/2022-porsche-taycan-turbo-s-pvoty-review/

    ICE or EV?

Me likey! Saving my nickels...eventually the rising value of the piggy bank will intersect with the falling values of a used Turbo S. Hope I can still get in and out of it by then. :D

Joys of replacing a fridge, attempt #4

Costco's return policy might be A+, but their use of 3rd parties can warrant a solid F(uckoff), partly because they contract with some of the lowest appliance scum on the planet. We bought a dishwasher from Costco and the "installer" failed to perform. Flat out refused to install it, citing...

MOTHERF!CKERS!!!  I love living here, but more and more leaving the rat race and moving back "home" sounds pretty enticing.

    ICE or EV?

I really like the new C8 vette, and I'm available for adoption.  Just sayin'.

I nibbled in to T and will add more SPH at 15 as well.  When did BRK get so expensive?  PE over 50?  I think we have 1 more strong leg down...20% from here?  Would be in line with GOOGL @ 80.

[RANT] UPS says Delivered but it is not

USPS did that to me once, and I was freaking out.  $1200 worth of stuff in a ~8"x8"x8" box, and insurance was not an option when I checked out.  Showed up the next day, after I had already filed an online report with the postmaster.  UPS will do it too, very rarely.  I assume it's to spiff up...

Newer Irvine listings with crazy WTF asking prices from equity sellers

So salaries will have to go up to keep them here, their jobs will leave too, or prices will drop, or some combination of the 3 will happen.  Actually, that is already happening.

    Oil

Meh.  I'm in that line but it's part of the routine.  Drop the wife off so she can start shopping, and I go fill up.  I've timed it when I was in the longest line I've ever been in, and it was a grand total of 14 minutes in and out.  Sure, maybe still not worth $3 if time was the only factor...

    HOA's in Irvine & Roundup

Is this just a diversion tactic to get everyone to forget about all the trichloroethylene in the ground?

    Nothing that's actually sporty.  :(

    Does such a vehicle exist?...

What is your definition of a "sporty" car?

    INFLATION IS OUR FRIEND

I just paid about 1/3 less for some ribeye steaks this week than I have been this year from the same Costco.  Deflation is starting to take hold!

    Tesla Solar Panels Price Cut

Exactly the kind of real world data I'm looking for.  Thank you.  How does the total annual generation compare to Tesla's estimate?  Side note, I find it maddening that Tesla isn't able to break down the estimate by month-average.  Surely they could easily do so.
