How low can we go? 30 yr fixed at 3.75% with no fees...

Re: demographics and wealth and opportunities, I agree that wealth transfer will be a huge windfall for the younger generation, but from a social safety net standpoint, every generation has had it tougher than the one before.  R2D, you mentioned getting a free bus pass...is that even a thing...

How low can we go? 30 yr fixed at 3.75% with no fees...

Lordy, I don't think rates can get that high before the "ensuing crash" occurs.  And I'm not talking just real estate...all the governments will go bankrupt just trying to cover their debts.  Gold might become en vogue once again!

We need a "How high can we go?" thread.

    INFLATION IS OUR FRIEND

So is the stock market tanking on an inflation-adjusted basis?

    INFLATION IS OUR FRIEND

It's not even visible from a major street.  $5.99 there, vs $4.94 at Costco.

Video of Better.com CEO Laying Off 15% of Workforce

That is hilariously incompetent.  Shoulda laid off the HR and software staff last maybe.    More than once have I been notified of workforce reductions at my work site from the local newspaper.

    INFLATION IS OUR FRIEND

$3?  Have you seen the news?  Difference between my nearest costco and my nearest Chevron is $1.05/gal of regular, per the gasbuddy website.  Easily a $15 savings for a lot of people.  Even if it took 30 minutes, that's $30/hour of after tax "discretionary" income, well above median pay in this...

Finally, some relief is in sight for sky-high truck and SUV prices!

    INFLATION IS OUR FRIEND

Personally, I see the Taycan and read the reviews, and my lizard brain simply says "I WANT IT!!!" before I even see the price, and I'm too much of a neanderthal to even consider what incentives there might be.  I would probably buy used, so they don't affect the process directly from my point of...

Irvine 3rd best US city for families

Any survey that ranks San Fran as #3 best US city for families has to be flawed.  That's just plain ol' f'ed up.

    INFLATION IS OUR FRIEND

But see, for me, it's a "dream upgrade", whereas for you it's yet just another trip down to the Porsche dealer on a day that ends in "Y".  Maybe you buy it and let me get it off you used when you get tired of it in August?  Please?  :D

    INFLATION IS OUR FRIEND

Eh?  I price it out today and 9.6KW with 3PW is 47k before incentives.  Tough decision.  The 3rd PW is iffy.  We would waste a fair amount of energy without a 3rd PW, but with it, it we would waste some anyway.  We only use about 4kw-h during the day when the sun is up; most of our usage is...

    INFLATION IS OUR FRIEND

I still recall a presentation I gave about 15 years ago in a biz class and noted that a gallon of gasoline has the same energy as 130,000 AA batteries.  Still, a majority of those petrol joules are simply wasted.  Gasoline is a highly efficient form of energy, but gasoline engines are not...

    INFLATION IS OUR FRIEND

And people can eat chicken instead of rib-eye steaks.  We're either going to be paying more for the same, or reducing our quality of life.

    INFLATION IS OUR FRIEND

Gonna be some mixed feelings when I get a raise that's double what I got last year, and half the inflation rate.  At least my mortgage is fixed.  The renters out there are going to get creamed on housing costs.

    Work in office or remote?

My wfh/office balance is just about perfect.  I cycle through periods of both, and just about when I get tired of 1, I cycle to the other.  I prefer to spend most of my time in the office.  The work is more interesting there and the hours fly by (hourly pay).  But it's also tiring.  WFH is a bit...

    Stock picks

I'm a dinosaur who doesn't even have a FB account.  There are some things I don't like about FB.  High burn rate, ugly chart.  But it seems to me if they're on the ground floor in creating the metaverse, they'll be first in line to collect the rents.    Microsoft is right there with them, and...

    Stock picks

Already own enough goog.  Put a limit order to buy FB last night.  No trigger yet.  Also put in limit orders to sell some OTM puts on stocks I want to own long term anyway.  Have some other options expiring tomorrow that may or may not see me ending up a shareholder.  OSTK is one of them  ;). ...
