Costa Mesa Rental

A plus: low water bill and no gardener fee due to use of astro turf.

Accredited - the last true subprime lender - just bit the dust.

I like the way Miss Busta's face morphs from a frown to a smile. They should sync it so that the question "I heard Accredited is now busta, Miss Busta!" and her face goes from smile to permanent frown with the answer.

    Costa Mesa foreclosures

Red point = Bank-Owned property. a.k.a. REO. Green point = Pre-foreclosure. Notice of Default (NOD) has been filed. Blue point = Auction property. Notice of Trustee?s (NOT) Sale has been posted. Wow! "Red tide" may have a new meaning at the beach in the future.

I feel that the Villages of Irvine Catalog Spring/Summer 2008 is misleading.

"...and i had cold feet because i couldn?t afford it (it was too much of a stretch)" LOSER! WIMP! It's called "creative financing". You know, "financing to fit your lifestyle"! Because you are soooo worth it! You totally blew it. /sarcasm off. I guess you'll just have to wait...

    Costa Mesa foreclosures

"That area will probably never be affected by foreclosures." We'll see about that! Actually, the "heirloom" homes have nothing to worry about. However, I now question every transaction that occurred during the bubble, regardless of geography. Anybody who is banking on...

Is it hard to rent a home with a dog?

"Is it hard to rent a home with a dog?" If they are well-behaved and chip in on the rent, then they make excellent house mates! (Sorry, couldn't resist).

45% reduction in asking price in La Mesa

I also like that they use the term "tenant". No, this fool who paid 1.4 just this last September "owns" nothing!

    Barely surviving on credit cards...

But, what about those CC ?checks? the CC companies send out with your statement every month? Can?t those be used to pay the rent, and the points be added? Read the fine print on your points program. They usually do not reward purchases with those checks.

    Brea loft auction

"I was interesting in bidding around the minimum, but they sold much higher than i expected" Perhaps in a year or two you'll pick one up at the minimum.

The Retreat - Santa Ana New Homes

The Retreat! Is this a housing development named after the direction of prices?

What do you think of this WSJ article?

"Most people forget that the current housing bust is nearly three years old." I've said this before; look for the housing bulls to advance the down cycle to make it appear as if we already "paid the piper". No, the piper is just tuning his pipe right now.

    Brea loft auction

I would dread crossing Imperial Hwy in a golf cart to get to downtown Brea. Actually, I would dread just walking across that street too, as it is pretty busy. And I would feel guilty about driving to it in an automobile. The strip mall across the street is okay. I believe there is a nice...

    Life of a Landlord

I went to Paso Robles to pick tomatoes at a friend's brother's place about 15 years ago. It was beginning of October, as I recall, and they had just gotten their first frost. They had stopped watering the plants a little before that. What happens is the first frost plus no water make the...

I wasn't wrong in '02, just early - Columnist Jon Lansner - The Orange County Register

I believe it was the April, 2002 edition where the Economist had pictures of houses on balloons and they discussed the "world housing bubble". A long time ago...

    Rapid Price Drops

I can tell just by looking at the shadow that there is a nice jacaranda tree in the front yard and it has lost it leaves. In a month or so the beautiful blossoms will appear. Similarily, the rapid home price drops of late make me (a renter) feel like I have my own tree - a money tree...

    Ladera Ranch Discussion Thread

"On a positive note about Ladera amongst everybody else?s sea of negative here, I do think they have done a good job of developing a sense of community there. The various activities, clubs, amenities, etc are pretty actively used and it creates a pretty good social environment. I feel like I...

    Obama/Clinton/MCain Position on Housing Issues

"But the underlying problem is that people expect someone else (insurance) to pay those costs and don?t bother shopping for a cheaper provider or source of drugs..." OR EVEN JUST GETTING OFF THEIR BUTTS AND EXERCISING FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!! Sheesh, so many people are big these days. Its...
