    BofA Halting All Foreclosures

Seriously, this pisses me off, just let the homes foreclose.  If I had a 4ft high pile of foreclosures on my desk, I probably wouldn't personally go through each one thoroughly.  Let's see Homeowner A stopped making payments 8 months ago, done, foreclosure.  Next, Homedebtor B stopped making...

    Woodbury Density

We visit Woodbury quite a bit.  We have several friends living there, plus we have soccer on the WB commons area on the weekends.  Overall, for the given amount of homes, it has never felt crowded to us.  Everyone keeps mentioning Sand Canyon as the main corridor, but even Sand Canyon seems...

    Building a house of wood....

Ironically, that's sort-of the goal in earthquako prone-CA have a flexible skeleton for a home.  Another reason why you don't see brick and other mortar based construction in california.  Horizontal movement in an earthquake would destroy a (non-reinforced) brick and mortar home.  There were a...

Builder Acquiring Irvine Land for Upscale Homes

What's the appeal for this parcel of land that makes it comparable to shady?  Seems like huge wad of over confidence if they expect $2M+ homes to fly off the shelf.  Just look at all the unsold $2M+ homes in CdM and Newport.  This is going to fuel TIC to say, hah, OH is better than that we...

    sealing the grout

This would be a rather easy DIY project, just get a good sealant from Miracle sealants, like 511 Grout Sealer and apply as directed.  Most of these are roll/brush on, wait, the wipe off.  None of these require any specialized tooling for sealing grout, tile or stone.  The sealants are expensive...

    Cox monopoly in Irvine

It could be worse. Be thankful we're not in Time Warner land and their horrible cable service and usage caps.    As far as high speed internet, we've been pretty satisfied with our service, although I would also loved to have FIOS service.

Is it just me or are the Woodbury resales overpriced?

Yes, we've been watching WB for awhile and lately the asking prices just keep going up and up.  Time will tell how motivated these sellers are..

    Where are my OREOs?

Unfortunately not many are making to actual REO's.  I too am looking for dem OREOs to hit the market.  In areas that I'm watching, I've seen a 10-15% increase in WTF asking prices since the asking prices back in April 2010.  My wife is asking WTF are these sellers smokin?  We need some more...

    Let's talk home prices

3 years ago (2007) I posted a number of these pictures on the IHB forum on what a difference a decade makes.  1997 was the bottom of market back and 2007 was sort of the peak of market.  Here's one of Cristal in Northwood Pointe.  A nice large Cristal home recently sold for 1.2M, which needed...

    Let's talk home prices

Is that 5K a year?  Kids are expensive, diapers, wipes, baby food, formula, and all the "gear" bottles, brushes, sanitizer, pack and play, stroller, cribs, and on and on that seem to be "needed" with a baby in the house oh and don't forget all the baby-proofing cabinet locks, etc. Childcare...

    Let's talk home prices

This has always been the "mystery" in Irvine.  I guess it's not a real mystery as the Bay Area prices are still far far higher than what we think as "TIC high" When IR provided mortgage info on his MLS spreadsheet, the downpayment data always surprised me. That information is real data to...

Slow and "500 Internal Server Errors"

It's been slow for a few days, just seemed even worse today.  Whatever you just did, fixed the problems, as the site is flying now... I can click and no delays! Thanks!

Slow and "500 Internal Server Errors"

The site seem excruciatingly slow... I've timed 30-60 second response times between clicks off the main forum, random "500 Internal server errors just clicking in on forum topics, that's all...  All other sites seem fine, just Ti. "Please contact the server administrator...

Upgrading interior cabinets to Maple Melamine

Wha? Upgrading to Melamine?  Melamine is a notch below formica, it's what makes Ikea, well Ikea.  You mean you have pay for a melamine cabinets?  A neighbor has Thermofoil, and several of the most used drawers are starting to peel.  They also have changed color over the years and they brought...

    Plantation Shutters

We went with polywood based shutters from Home Depot Expot aka Sunburst shutters (who HD outsourced to).  I was leary of a synthetic material, but it has proven itself, no sagging, nor bent shutters, everything operates smoothly to this day.  It's also easy to clean and is resistant to moisture.

    Pergraniteel... what's better?

For me, I'd redo a kitchen in Ceasarstone tops, stainless appliances (I like the look) and more modern looking cabinets.  I can't stand the standard raised panel cabinet doors that haven't changed in 50 years (other than wood species and stain).

Just got property value notice from county....

I got a drop in value of .25% woohoo... I don't know how they assessed the value since we bought the home in 1999.  Doesn't make any sense, but I'm not complaining.

    3-Story Homes

In Northwood II the Arbors have some floorplans with a 3rd story attic / media / loft room option.  I personally, would love a man-cave as a media/gaming/music room where I could keep the noise and toys out of sight of the main living areas.  Wife would be happy too.  Come-on, I don't want a...

    Laguna Crossing noise concern

I live close to the 5 freeway and it doesn't take that much of a distance to reduce the noise.  LC appears more distant to the 405 than QH which should make the noise even less.  LC seems quite appealing as it's quite secluded.  Hopefully they won't be building inline with those ugly powerlines...
