Where not to drive in Irvine

Yeah, I see people routinely going 65-70, even more. Its not a freeway! I get people passing aggressively by me when I am observing the speed limit on Portola.

Where not to drive in Irvine

Jeffrey at the I-5 interchange is another common location for accidents. Jamboree where it turns the corner into Santiago Canyon Road (by Irvine Regional Park) is another common area for accidents (esp car vs. bicycle)

    Mass Transit

No one uses it, because they come so infrequently, that its not actually usable.

    Selfish, Hateful NIMBYs

I agree that more homes need to be built, but the problem is that developers and the city are not putting in the necessary transit infrastructure to accommodate what is becoming a real city. Irvine started as a bunch of suburban "villages", but now is starting to build much denser, more...

    Barcelona at Los Olivos Village

Yeah, I agree, I think its a horrible location. Plop a small gated enclave next to a bunch of freeways and office buildings. Go outside your gate and then what? Take a leisurely stroll down Irvine Center Drive? Bike to the Spectrum? Hah. But then again, I dislike the location of Laguna Altura...

New home company: 40 homes 3800-4200sqft gated in Orange

Will be interesting to see how many people are willing to shell out the big bucks for a new house in that school district. Maybe if the houses and lots have a wow factor that you can't get in Irvine or South County, or trade at enough of a discount compared to a comparable property in a better...

Harvard Admits 4.6% of Applicants; Other Ivy League Schools Get Tougher, Too

yah, same here.  I'm Asian, so it pains me to say it, but even I can't tell them apart, LOL.

Harvard Admits 4.6% of Applicants; Other Ivy League Schools Get Tougher, Too

I interview for one the Ivy schools. I will tell you that several members of the alumni committee refer to Northwood High as a "factory" and talk about kids there as being robot-like, devoid of personality, character and balance. Is this what Irvine parents are overpaying for?

Newer Irvine listings with crazy WTF asking prices from equity sellers

Not necessarily! Though I do grant that probably more people than not. I chose OH over Port Streets and Spyglass Hill/Corona del Mar (we were in escrow on a house over there so I'm not just talking out of my @ss), because location was better for me re commute.  But I'm not a beach person...

Newer Irvine listings with crazy WTF asking prices from equity sellers

Its the price point and size of the homes.  The 1.75M and up market  is kind of stagnant all over Irvine with a glut of inventory that's not moving, not just in OH. I would say its fine if you're buying a home you love to live in over the long term with your family, not if you're looking to...

Newer Irvine listings with crazy WTF asking prices from equity sellers

I'm in a dual income household with two young kids and long working hours for both spouses. Probably typical of your average Irvine buyer.  At this stage in life, short commute, low maintenance home,  and school quality are the most important things to my quality of life with my family. What is...

Newer Irvine listings with crazy WTF asking prices from equity sellers

No question, the Coto and San Juan Capistrano homes are better by far. The problem is the location is really way South and not convenient for commuting for a lot of people.  The North Tustin home is beautiful, but an older property. Some people may shy away from the home and yard maintenance...

Faced with stagnant enrollment, Tustin Unified seeks to lure students

I wonder if they did it to avoid the competitiveness of Irvine school district. Figured it should be easy to be valedictorian at Tustin High? I think it said her home school is Northwood High. I know a bunch of Chinese families who can afford it opting for private school too to avoid IUSD...

Newer Irvine listings with crazy WTF asking prices from equity sellers

very interesting, the degree of market compression. 3 BR Petaluma detached condos asking over 1.2 M. Meanwhile, 4000+ sq ft resale SFRs can be bought for1.7M in multiple communities, and there's a ton of choice out there. If you can afford it, the big houses are definitely a better "deal"

US new home sales drop for second straight month

I think it is definitely way cheaper to rent rather than buy an equivalent property in Irvine. 4 BR house, sells for 1 million, rented out for 4,000 a month????
