Smooth Stucco/Plaster OK for Retaining Wall?

Most landscapers are saying it won't be an issue if you do it right. The proper way is to water proof the rear, french drain the back, gravel, w/ an engineer and city permit.

Smooth Stucco/Plaster OK for Retaining Wall?

Is your wall a retaining wall though? Just wondering if all this pressure and water runoff is going to cause cracking issues with the stucco.

Smooth Stucco/Plaster OK for Retaining Wall?

I like the look of a smooth stucco or smooth plaster retaining wall with a stain to match the exterior of the house. Will this finish hold up against pressure on the wall?

Acid Wash Concrete or Travertine in Backyard?

Having a hard time deciding between a very very light colored acid wash concrete floor or travertine. On a tight budget, but someone told me that I shouldn't get concrete because it cracks really easily. Is this really true? After how long can I expect to see cracks?

How many watts are your LEDs? What kind are they? Definitely has to do with the bulbs you chose.

    New home upgrades

Recessed lights are definitely worth it. Table lamps are expensive and don't produce half the amount of light that recessed lights produce. It has to do with the fact that recessed lights offer a much wider dispersion seeing as though they're on the ceiling. We went with 2 recessed lights in...

Recirculation pump systems w/ Tankless Water Heaters

I thought I needed a water circulator because I would have to wait a couple of minutes for water to turn hot, but have found the real solution. Brand new homes have this water conserver washer in the shower heads. This is the reason why water pressure can sometimes be really weak. So I took the...

    Gap under baseboards

Is that proper procedure though to put caulking in the seam between the wood flooring and the baseboard? Wondering if I even need to if it's the norm to have the visible seam between baseboard and wood floor when no quarter round is used. Thanks SC! I used a contractor @ eyephone

    Gap under baseboards

No, it's not uneven. It's not so much of a gap, but more of a visible line. I was just wondering if caulking was standard for the seam. How about the stairs where the side of each wooden planks isn't plum with the sidewall/baseboard?

    Gap under baseboards

Gap is not vertical; it's horizontal where the wood meets the baseboard.

    Gap under baseboards

    1) Our baseboards sit on top of the wood. No quarter round was used and I prefer it that way, but do you know if the installer was suppose to fill that small gap in between the wood and the baseboard with caulking? 2) How about the slight gaps on the side of each step where the wood meets the...

    Stonegate: buyer questions

No landfill smell whatsoever, even on a hot/windy day. Farmland is a big plus, actually. With the windows down, you can smell the strawberry fields on Portola Parkway.  :)

    Shutter Paint Smell

Sorry for the delay. The brand of shutters are Onyx. Based on what I've read and in speaking with various shutter companies, their product is of quality. UPDATE: Happy to say that the smell finally went away after a month.

    Shutter Paint Smell

Do your newly installed shutters have a paint/lacquer smell? The smell was strong and could be smelt upon entering the room, however, a good amount of it has subsided within the initial 3 weeks but still seems to have a residual smell. Have you had a similar experience? I hope the smell goes...
