    best neighborhoods for Halloween

Just terrible. The Santa Ana one killed twin girls.  One of my twin girls insisted on walking to a particular neighborhood that they were meeting up with friends for Halloween. I knew it would require crossing a busy street, especially a remote patch where people speed up and dark at night.  I'm...

    best neighborhoods for Halloween

It might be due, a teeny tiny bit, to not having that additional pressure of getting an earful from "one of" his ex-teammates each time he has an off day.  :P How's the Halloween crowd for everyone?  Ours is slow in this neighborhood.  Probably will end up with about 30 kids.  Now, I'll have...

    Veterans Cemetery coming to Irvine

When I see a cemetery, I always think I would never buy the houses adjacent to it.  And, I would not buy anything remotely near it.  How far away would housing have to be from the cemetery to undo that "not near the cemetery" effect for you folks?  I would have to say at least a few miles.  How...

    Common sense or selfish criminal

I think this nurse really blew it.  Instead of an attorney, she should have hired a publicist, looked congenial and acted humble, it would have opened some doors for her.  Why not use that 5 minutes of fame to your advantage? If it was me, I would have muttered through that space suit, with a...

    Richest quarterbacks

Richest quarterbacks list.  I realize the old timers didn't get paid the obscene money that the superstars make now so that the list is skewed towards the newer guys. http://worthly.com/richest/football-players/20-richest-nfl-quarterbacks-time/ Terry Bradshaw, only $10mil?  I'm sure some...

    City Election 2014

Mayor Choi was at a school function this afternoon.  He went on about how much they were spending on this program so I was about to bite it for you guys and stand up and ask about his spending on the "investigation".  But I remembered seeing a video of a heckler being told by Gov. Christie to...

    Common sense or selfish criminal

Amazing that a doctor would cover up his tracks knowing full well what could have happened.

    Common sense or selfish criminal

Exactly.  I applaud her for going there but her follow through sucks.  In any case, I don't think she should have made her gripe so public.  She's coming across as a whiny, selfish person, regardless of the truth.  Who's going to hire her now?

What you think of these Great room design?

Going back to the original question, those Great Room layouts look normal and o.k. to me.  My sliding doors are perpendicular to the wall that has the area for the TV.  And, we have the patio covers outside the sliding doors so no direct sunlight to interfere with the TV. We don't use the...

    Common sense or selfish criminal

What do you think about the nurse that came back from West Africa that was being monitored for Ebola and ordered to stay in her house disobeying the order and going out?  Good for her, she's the one that's making sense?  Or, selfish person only caring about herself...

What you think of these Great room design?

Please help out this old guy who doesn't understand what a "Great Room" is. LOL. I have a mid-90s house that has a room with kitchen/nook/family room and that seems to be close to what is pictured as the Great Room here, although mine may not as big as the Magnolia one.  So, do I have a...

    Ooma as a landline replacement

If you have Cox Internet and phone bundle, when you cut out the phone service, they will quickly remind you that you will have to start paying $9.9X per month for the modem rental, which was waived when you had the bundle.  So, if you don't have one already, you would need to purchase a cable...

Irvine city council elections and your home value/quality of life.

That's about it for me as well.  He had ample time and many opportunities to correct anything that was not true.  Reading his rebuttal/propaganda through the Irvine Community News does not count. His cronies in the "Agran group" gets a black mark in my eyes just because they are associated with...

    oomba

Yes, I recently got mine.  It's working good so far.  Obviously, it won't work when your Internet is down, etc. so not as reliable but all of us have cell phones for that scenario. Getting long distance through them is easy and reasonable too.

A reminder that banks are not responsible for your safety deposit box contents

Yes, definitely insurance is needed. Once again, after all the movies and TV programs showing thieves coming in from the ceiling and floor, why don't they pour 30 ft. of concrete below with many layers of steel bars, cobras in the ceiling, etc. to prevent these things?  :P Once thing I...

A reminder that banks are not responsible for your safety deposit box contents

I'm not rich enough to need a safety deposit box but if I ever do, I'm not opening it at this bank.  :P Maybe I watched too many movies but aren't at least two keys needed to open that thing?  One that the owner keeps and the other by the bank?  Did the wife have access to that owner key?  Did...

    Ding dong...it's the bank knocking.

Right, I was thinking about refi's since I see some of you are constantly talking about refi'ing (I won't mention who) again. So, if you guys/ladies got a decent 30 fixed loan or 5 or 7 year ARM and the rate goes down a little bit, would this non-recourse (I guess maybe that's not the...

    Ding dong...it's the bank knocking.

I was thinking about those new, Internet connected, electronic doors that was discussed about two months ago here on this board that makes a ding-dong sound even when you knock on it.  Don't try to search for it since it'll probably not come up.  :P

    Ding dong...it's the bank knocking.

So, if a person squatted for 2 years and eventually sent back the keys is he o.k. or can they still come after that person, if the bank felt it was worth it financially?

    Ding dong...it's the bank knocking.

OC Housing News (I hope it's not taboo to mention them here; if so I apologize) has an article about debt collectors going after mortgage borrowers after their finances improved from the defaulting homeowners. I may be mixed on this one but I don't want the previous lesson to be that you can...
