For those of you who applied for the state tax credit, how long did it take before you heard back regarding whether or not your application was accepted? Thanks in advance.

    Air conditioning service referral

I've used Lewis Air in RSM. I had a coupon, so that's how I found them. Good service and a good tech. http://lewisair.com/ I've also heard the name Aliso Air being used a lot in my neighborhood: http://www.alisoair.com/

    Shopping for flooring

Agreed. I think SF added in all that stuff. A lot cheaper than Empire, but it's worth it to have LL come out and do measurements for a more accurate quote. The flooring is going upstairs to replace the dated carpet (I can't do carpet because of bad allergies and our pets). I wanted to do all...

I didn't hit Howard's. I have a couple of coworkers who shopped them and thought their prices were too high compared to PS.

IHO: thanks for the NY Carpet recommendation. I'll probably use them when I carpet my stairs.

    Shopping for flooring

True...it does depend on the type of flooring. I found that the majority of the flooring I found at LL was cheaper. I'm considering hardwoods---engineered and handscraped. SF and LL are comparable on installation: $2.99 sq ft. Haven't tried LA carpet. I did hit some stores on Tile Row but...

    Shopping for flooring

I checked out Simple Floors and LL this weekend. LL has better pricing. Can someone speak to the quality of the installation?

    Appliance Shopping

Thought I would share the outcome of my shopping experience. *WARNING* Lengthy post. I try to be as detailed as possible to help those who will be appliance shopping, especially those first-time appliance buyers. The views expressed here are solely my own; I am not a paid endorser. Some content...

Thanks everyone for the recommendations. I'll probably hit up the July 4th sales in hopes of finding a good deal.

    Shopping for flooring

I'm purchasing in Corona, right over the OC border. Does anyone have any flooring stores/installer recommendations? I guess Anaheim, Orange, etc. locations would be best because of the distance. Thanks in advance.

Is it necessary to do a new home inspection?(2010 Woodbury New Home)

I just had Steve Lottatore with Bilt-Rite come out. I got his info from other boards. I gave my coworker his name, and she used his services and was very happy, so I used him as well. I found Steve to be very thorough. His report includes photos of questionable items, highlights safety issues...

    Appliance Shopping

I need to buy a fridge, washer, and dryer for a home I'm purchasing. Any store and brand recommendations? I'm thinking Kitchen Aid or LG for the fridge, and LG for the w/d. I checked on the good ole IHB and it looks like Pacific Sales and RSSA come recommended for the stores. Any others I...

Opportunity cost of putting down only 10% for a home.

Adding a personal spin to SGIP's earlier comment about the above...I have been the in the market to buy a home for over a year, and have been working with a very good credit union since my search started. I am able to secure a conventional 30-yr fixed loan for a $400K purchase price with only...

Lyon buying more new home lots

From the Register: http://lansner.freedomblogging.com/2010/05/06/builder-buying-more-o-c-lots/64767/ I can't imagine how Ivy/San Carlos Courts will be expanded.

SCC does not have models. They will be ready in July. Phase 1 will be sold on May 8. Perhaps you talk about San Carlos?

San Carlos Court at Portola Springs Coming Soon

What's general consensus about buying sight-unseen? Would you put down $5,000 to buy based off floorplan?

    Santa Barbara in Woodbury

The villages of irvine site say "Pricing anticipated from the high $300,000s" So, let say $385,000 for 1,165 square foot model. Perhaps model 2 is low to mid $4s. The model 3/3x is in high $4s to low $5s. I would like to see Model 1 at $325-$350,000. Lyons is offering at SCC a 1,126 square...

San Carlos Court at Portola Springs Coming Soon

Sorry...I have to make a correction. Escrow will close when the property is ready (Oct/Nov time frame). The $5K is not 100% refundable. It will depend on the costs incurred while in escrow, and will also take into account the upgrades that were put in.

San Carlos Court at Portola Springs Coming Soon

There are no models to look at. They won't be built until July. To get into Phase 1, buyers must put down a $5K deposit and sign a sales contract either next weekend or the following weekend. Escrow will close within 30 days of the signed papers. Homes won't be completed until October or...
