Civil Rights protections are too important to leave to "popular" voting: Prop 8

In July 08, the Supreme Court of California denied a petition to remove Prop 8 from the ballot based on the exact same legal argument. It would appear that California judiciary doesn?t want to touch this issue with a ten-foot pole. <a...

Petition IRS to revoke Church of Latter Day Saints tax-exempt status

It won?t work. Besides the fact that it?s absolutely ridiculous to single out Mormons for the passage of prop 8, under the rules and the case law interpreting the rules of 501(c), there is no way LDS will be found in violation of 501(c). Generally, in order for a 501(c)(3) entity to be in...

    Santa Ana City Place Auction

It's gotta suck to be one of the owners who bought a few years ago and see the units being auctioned off at much lower prices. I stop by these lofts every now and then (Pinkberry) and it seems to me that they are at least half emplty.

    Not everyone should own

I was a member of a church where the pastor would repeat the same mantra monthly: ?I am not a materialistic man. All I want is to pastor this church for the rest of my life, love my family and own my own home.? It took me a few months to think about what his statement really meant. There...

Nude is correct. The chief responsibility of the State Supreme Court is to interpret the law. Implicit in the state constitution, as well as in the federal constitution, is the right to marry. The right to marry is a ?fundamental right.? Pursuant to their respective ?equal protection...

Biking to work, why don't you? List your excuses here...

The trail does run along a train track at parts (which I've never seen a train on). I occasionally ride the river on the weekends up to yorba linda. If I were to take it work it would add at least three miles to my trip so I don't use it often.

Biking to work, why don't you? List your excuses here...

It starts near First and Main. See here. If you look on the sattalite view from google, you can see a good 2 miles of it is a paved bike path through a narrow park area. If you intend to ride it around 5/6 pm, bring a bell or a...

Biking to work, why don't you? List your excuses here...

I bike to work about twice a week. My trip takes 9-10 miles each way depending on which route I take - Old Town Orange to South Coast. The cool thing is that there is a hidden bike path that runs through Santa Ana and it's actually quite pleasant to ride. My problem is that I work long hours...

Being Punished for Doing Everything Right

How much profit do you stand to make if you get your asking price? Does your asking price have some serious appreciation built into it? If you think you are being punished because you are not getting an ample return on your "investment," I really can't muster up much sympathy for you. My...

Average income for $1 million home?

If you are a hard working associate at a top law firm (about 5-10 such firms in OC), you can be 1-5 years out of law school and make $200k. If you are married to another attorney, you can push half a million in household income by your late 20s.
I work at a top law...
