By California apparently succeeding in flattening the curve, did the state just extend this coronavirus issue for a longer timeline than other states?

It's better look at the rate of positive cases as a % of total tested.  That's only reported at the county level, but it has been hovering around 8% for the past couple weeks.  I believe that's quite a bit lower than the national (even after excluding NY) and state averages.  That's a hopeful sign. 

both my folks and in-laws live in their own separate homes within a 25 minute drive of my house.  My in-laws suggested buying a large 3,500 sq ft home in Irvine so they can live with us.  I said 'No'.  I'm fine with my dinky home and a bit of my freedom.
