    I have to agree with lawyerliz, just like housing and cheap lending and healthcare and the indirectness of insurance payment, student loans have desensitized people to the price increases in education. Note that these three things are the only things that seem to go up faster than inflation...

    The crazy thing is that AV property is actually much cheaper because of 5 years of inflation. Knock another 20% off to put it in real 2008 dollars. Yikes. It's like getting it at 2001 prices.

    Far more important than the school is her drive to succeed. Either of those would be fine and one would be a lot cheaper. I'd go with the public university. The mere fact that you have to ask the question shows that most aren't really cognizant of a material difference between the education...
