    Chinese medicine doctor experience

I have seen a few Chinese doctors recently for acupuncture and consultation. Unfortunately, these doctors don't make me feel confident. One of them majored in engineering and moved to US many years ago. And somehow she managed to get PhD from American Global University for oriental medicine...

    Middle School Homework

Many AP classes will require 2+ hr homework time each block period. So if you have 3 period each day, you will easily spend 5-6 hour in homework/project often. The other thing is that make sure your kids are actually doing homework not spending too much time chatting with their friends or...

    Middle School Homework

2-3 hours average seems to be right. No, no need to stay up till midnight. That usually won't happen until junior/senior year of high school unless you are doing some crazy number of ivy-oriented activities. But I heard some middle school have more homework (e.g. Sierra vista Gate program)...

Recommendation for plumber for RO system

if you are buying new homes, maybe going with builder is better because the water pipe goes into your fridge will be connected to your RO system instead of tap water. So you don't need to keep buying filters for the fridge which save you money in the long run.

he got accepted into UCI. does that mean he could possibly be rejected from UCLA/UCB ? i think most likely he got a fee waiver and maybe even a full ride to the Ivies. congratulations to him. looks like it's normal to apply to all 8 ivies these days? personally i don't think it's a good idea...

    Stone for hardscape

I like paver better because they usually don't show cracks easily even when there is small earthquake. Also they are much cheaper than stone and you don't have to worry about the breaking down over time. The color choice is great as well.

IUSD does away with traditional math path

My problem is that they spend so much money and time on this so called CC instead of the real problem when the district is facing budget cut in a lot of area. my high school kid couldn't get AP class in sophomore year because of this issue. and most importantly this CC are moving us backwards in...

IUSD does away with traditional math path

Sorry at my kid's middle school we are not eligible for a parent/teacher conference because we don't have a "need". Try request one if you have a middle school kid and he/she is not doing terriblely. I am not going to waste my time attending the Math Pathway meetings this year because I have...

IUSD does away with traditional math path

I didn't get a lot from internet about common core. I look at what my kids bring back for their home work and what's teacher's expectation on how they solve a problem. I always feel that students need to show more steps than necessary before common core. And it's not good for training your mind...

IUSD does away with traditional math path

I grew up with the old way. To the contrary of many people's understanding, we have used many memorization and drills. But we also have a lot of practice for challenging problems which intensively involve problem solving & logic thinking. The approach here is to ditch most of the memorization...
