    Contamination under Irvine

No one is mentioning the plume under John Wayne airport...LOL. From the LA Times 2000 However, liability is also a concern for county officials and taxpayers, who unexpectedly were forced to pay $4 million to clean decades-old ground-water contamination that was found during...

    Contamination under Irvine

And I'm amazed at your ignorance. All organic pollutants toxicity has a half life and eventually will slowly disappear. The air you breathe near a smoker or on the I-5 has much more risk to your health.

    Tremont - Fountain Valley

<<KB has a bad rep in Houston too, maximum sq footage for min price and poor quality. Homes < two years old selling now for $56/sg ft.>> Despite all my bad memories of all my real estate ventures in Houston sometimes I wish my hovel in Irvine was impressive as my Memorial monstrosity...

Foreign Competition for Irvine Real Estate

I was surprised...maybe the 'new' Chinese style is 'All hat and no cattle'. Supposedly these investors were touring Denver on their way to London and Paris. In the old days most rich Chinese were extremely humble and kept a closed mouth.

Foreign Competition for Irvine Real Estate

Certainly not Riverside. The Chinese RE tourists here in Denver are focusing on Cherry Creek, Greenwood Village and downtown lofts. It seems they do have a bit of money.

Why do people want houses to appreciate in value when they own?

I'm a classical collector and there are some extreme ways of saving to support my habit...this is from a old usenet thread on this subject. >I need some help (don't we all?). I am having a difficult time convincing >my girlfriend that I am a paradigm of restraint in owning only 4700 CDs...

Where to get Chinese food in Irvine?

China Garden's dim sum is a disgrace to the culinary art. A week ago the Har Gow was disgusting and I was sorely tempted to return the food . Unbelievable that the place was packed and there was a 30 minute wait for a table. All those Irvine Chinese must be out of their collective minds. I'd...

    Free Lunch Wednesdays

Jeez IR! Are you sure this is helping your reputation with other realtors? At First Team in the 1990's in Irvine things were tough. Agent previews were serving Thai Chicken salad, honey baked hams, rolls and chocolate chip cookies hot from the oven, anything to attract a crowd of jaded realtors...

Why Aren't Kids Playing on the Street in Irvine?

<,bk..not a personal attack or anything but why so many long anti-Irvine manifestos>> BK is a urban visionary and has an idea of his perfect neighborhood (can there ever be such a thing in the Los Angeles metro?) so he notices the many small imperfections in Irvine. IMHO he likes Irvine or...

Where will mortgage rates be in 2010/2011?

Interest rates will rises when the Chinese stop financing the US lifestyle. 35% of the Chinese economy is export related and it causes the most of the environmental and social dislocations. It is fast approaching a zero sum game.

IR <<well over 50% of the buyers bear Asian surnames. MLS Irvine Closed Sales since 1/1/2006

IrvineRealtor's table is endlessly entertaining. Through April 10th buyers that put down less than 10% numbered about 40 compared to the 37 who put down 75%-100%. Another 37 put down 50%-74%, 90 put down 25%-49% and 80 put down 11-24% (mostly around 20%)... Median and averages don't mean much...

MLS Irvine Closed Sales since 1/1/2006

57% average down payment, if true, suggests that there is a whole bunch of money (Asian?) on the sidelines ready to pounce on Irvine RE. Thank you IrvineRealtor for your analysis. This is very interesting!

So what does one do with shrimp paste?

It is used for smearing on door knobs in foreclosed REOs that you are interested in bidding on. It worked for me in Denver during the 1988 crash.

    Why is the Dow higher?

Corporate profits looks good because the world is experiencing a economic boom. Intel gets 75% of it's revenues from overseas and a falling dollar will be advantageous for it's profits. Many large companies generate a lot of overseas revenues and you have to know which ones.
