    car trade in advice.

Yes but on a new car the break pads, sensors etc would be covered under warranty at least until 50K miles.  900bucks for a sensor ouch. I think I may just keep the car and see how it does next year or so and if the repair bills get outrageous I'll probably trade it in

    car trade in advice.

I have a 2008 lexus gs 2008 with 105K miles on it.  Repairs and maintenance are getting pricey. Should I keep it or trade it in.  Looking at needing break pads and some coils replaced over the next few months. Today one fuel sensor needed replacing?900 bucks!

trouble is those clear days may be only 30-50% of the time. Lots of fog will obscure the pricey views.

Loan from 401K to complete 20% down payment

I took a 401k loan in 2010 for a home purchase. Turned out to be a good decision. Bought a short sell and now it's worth 300K more than I bought it.  In my mind the only downside of a 401k loan is missing out on gains in the market. If the market goes down which it may very well do, then you'd...

    backyard renovation bid

Yes, Ladera lots are bigger than Irvine lots because we're more "out there". But I really like it here. Yes, I had somebody from Resort Style Backyards come out.  But it appears they wanted $2000 or so in a design fee before giving me an itemized bid. The "rough estimate" from them was 190K way...

Excessive? I don't think so. Lots of houses in Covenant have pools/bbq areas.

    backyard renovation bid

I've had 3 bids so far. The most specific and best was from dreamscapes by mgr.  I'm not doing my front yard, just the backyward which includes pool/spa/covered outdoor patio(hardcover), and travertine pavers.  I live in Covenant Hills area of Ladera and my lot size is about 8500 sq ft or so...

    backyard renovation bid

Got 3 people to come out for backyard estimates for pool/spa/solid roof outdoor room/travertine hardscape.  2 of the companies where a bit wishy washy about the price. One company we liked was dreamscapes by mgr and their bid came in at 122K for everything...onlything extra not included in bid...

    pool. Good or bad idea?

Hi just want to get some opinions. We are thinking of putting in a pool in our backyard. We have a 7mo old, a 3 year old and a 5 year old. Of course we would have a fence, but is it still safe?  Anyone else have a pool with small kids?  I think the pros would be aesthetics and teaching the kids...
