    Who's buying?

Good decision - if you're staying in the long-term then you can't go wrong either way.

Always take it with a grain of salt, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was close to being accurate in present time.

    Who's buying?

Here's data from the U.S census for Irvine in 2007 - things have probably changed, and moved up higher now. $98,923 According to 2007 Census Bureau estimates, the median income for a household in the city is $98,923, and the median income for a family is $111,455; these numbers make Irvine the...

    Who's buying?

Almost everyone I know - personal friends - who live in Irvine, are making a min of 80K a year, and probably more like $120K per year, saved up the down for their own home, and some are even supporting or helping their parents financially. This is not an uncommon thing. Only catch is that most...

Orchard Hills - Capella by Taylor Morrison

:D you finally got to see it! The finished product actually didn't turn out all that bad - still not something we would have chosen, but it looks a LOT better without the fake Christmas tree ;)

Orchard Hills - Capella by Taylor Morrison

I think it's good for everyone to hear both sides, not knocking all of the negative comments - any prospective buyer, along with their own analysis should read this thread so they can make a better decision on a home purchase. I just disagree with some of the negative comments e.g.: guard gate...

Orchard Hills - Capella by Taylor Morrison

Why are people on here so invested in Capella failing as a builder? Sounds like the jilted ex who keeps checking up on his former flame to see if she's turned fat and unsuccessful, when she's doing just fine ;) If I was content with my decision to not buy a home in a certain area, I wouldn't...

Orchard Hills - Capella by Taylor Morrison

Sounds like a lot of the people against buying Capella were ones that were holding out on the 1.2 price range before they hiked it up, and they're understandably, PO'd about that, as well as the lot sizes. There will always be buyers for the outstanding inventory and those who will want to live...

Orchard Hills - Capella by Taylor Morrison

You can't compare the two - LA was also selling at a time where there wasn't a lot of inventory on the market, which Capella has a lot to compete with, not only in OH, but Hidden Canyon and other areas. Different times. I think Capella is selling at a very decent pace considering both price...

Orchard Hills - Capella by Taylor Morrison

From what I heard about a month or so ago, they sold about half their inventory. Not sure where they're at now, but that doesn't seem too shabby considering the price point.

Yes, let's get back to the original topic, this thread has totally crashed and burned.

    Who's buying?

There are reasons for this too - Firefighters are respected more than Cops, and have overall higher job satisfaction b/c the public isn't threatened by their enforcement of laws. Ask any Police officer or FF, and the answer would clearly be that FF is the better job for sure. Granted, you have...

I'm sorry - how much do firefighters make? I always assumed their salary was equivalent to a higher paid RN, around 80K a year, but looking at this chart: http://www1.salary.com/Fire-Fighter-Salary.html

    Who's buying?

Sounds like you made the right decision then, especially since you've already lived in L.A, you know the comparisons! OC is great for families, and definitely a great choice! We choose Capella for financial reasons - didn't want to take on more than the price of a Capella home. We ended up...

    Who's buying?

This is true, different preferences for sure. Having lived in both areas, I love L.A - just wish the traffic wasn't psycho. Definitely things I appreciate about the O.C over L.A, but overall my preference is La Canada, and Pasadena area over Irvine any day.

    Who's buying?

Ahem... don't knock La Canada until you've seen it in person. And make sure you visit the area behind "The Dish" restaurant - those homes are beyond beautiful. Sorry, but you just can't replicate a neighborhood like that with the cookie cutter feel of Irvine. Just can't compare the two. Yes...

    Who's buying?

yikes, wasn't aware of that with la canada homes. There are pluses and minuses to both areas. L.A overall is way more progressive, except I think La Canada is one of the more conservative pockets. Minuses to La Canada are the homes are really old and need a lot of work. Half the homes there...

    Who's buying?

SO funny that you compared OH to La Canada - we almost pulled the trigger there, but the homes were getting snapped up the minute they were on the market (the good ones that were renovated) - Overall, we found that it was just easier & cheaper to purchase a home here, than deal with an older La...
