I think if you make over a certain amount the child tax credit is phased out with previous tax law. In the new approach, you get the credit no matter what plus I think a few hundred for yourself ans spouse.

No, I realized that. I ran this and compared to TurboTax calculator which still uses the old tax law.

Interestingly I ran the marketwatch calculator and looks like it was a wash for me comparing to the current tax law. I was probably going to get hit with AMT this year. The Child Tax Credit is my savior though.

The only positive that is going to come out of the mess with Trump and the tax reform is this will encourage more people to be involved and try to make a difference with their vote and voice. I for one have never been an active voter but this has really gotten me riled up.
