Why does data show Foothill Ranch prices up 20% (vs. 2007)

Thanks for the info. I just looked on a map and Foothill is a very small city. In fact, it isn't even really a city. It is a "census-designated place" with its own zip code (sort of like a sub-city within a city). Looks like it is technically part of Lake Forest, the same way that Corona del Mar...

Why does data show Foothill Ranch prices up 20% (vs. 2007)

In looking at the data fromhttp://www.ocregister.com/articles/median-http-sales-2044365-www-ocregister,I noticed that Foothill Ranch prices were up 20%. This seems unusual. Is it simply a numbers oddity in that the sample data (only 15 homes) could have been higher priced homes?

Seeking Your Feedback: Plan "B" for Unsold Condo (AKA Quality of Life? Math)

Thanks again for all your replies and private messages. After reading the posts and speaking to some of you privately, the one topic that a lot of people brought to my attention is the tax impact (something I failed to fully appreciate) Specifically, the fact that there will be a huge...

Seeking Your Feedback: Plan "B" for Unsold Condo (AKA Quality of Life? Math)

Wow, lots of good feedback. I really appreciate everyone?s time. So, to answer some of your questions (and comments): Ipoplaya: Assuming I can sell it. Heh. Girl In the OC: I?ve thought of that, but no leniency from me. And this will be backed by a legal contract and a fat...

    Ants in my...well, fricking everywhere!

A friend of mine (a bit of an odd guy) suggested leaving food and water outside for the ants to find. He said it works. Sounds a bit strange to me, but who knows. I think the $100 for an exterminator is more logical. :)

Seeking Your Feedback: Plan "B" for Unsold Condo (AKA Quality of Life? Math)

I put 20% down, so if I sold it for $30,000 less than I paid for it, I'd only be eating my own money. No need to mail the keys back to the bank. :)

Seeking Your Feedback: Plan "B" for Unsold Condo (AKA Quality of Life? Math)

Hello. Thanks for your reply. What I owe on it is irrelevant. I did not mean to infer otherwise. My estimate is based on what two or three similar properties sold for in the last 2 months. About 1 block away, similar design, similar square feet, etc. all sold for $30,000 less than what I'm...

Seeking Your Feedback: Plan "B" for Unsold Condo (AKA Quality of Life? Math)

Hi, I?m back seeking more advice from the collective group <em>(this is way cheaper than going to a mental health professional)</em>. As you may (not) remember, I?ve been trying to sell my townhouse. It was listed twice. For all the obvious reasons it didn?t sell last year (I was too...

Is 2003 pricing realistic for making offers? Or am I just wasting my time?

hs_teacher>So you're bored of your condo already? Hah hah. Very funny. Not bored, but we want a bigger place with a nice yard. 4-years ago we were not in a position to afford a single family home, but a few promotions later (plus the fact that prices are falling) it is now an option. Per...

Is 2003 pricing realistic for making offers? Or am I just wasting my time?

    >Is there anything about your place that would make it worth $50-75K more? A really nice view (but not a $50K view). A few of the "real estate professionals" that have come to show it said it might be worth an extra $20K or so, but what the heck do they know? I may as well be asking my...

Is 2003 pricing realistic for making offers? Or am I just wasting my time?

Thanks for your collective feedback. Personally, I don’t think prices will go too much lower than 2003 prices (but I am <strong>hoping </strong>they do). Good advice <em>(trooper) </em>on doing the 10/1 while we’re still living there. That thought had crossed my mind, but it was good to...

Is 2003 pricing realistic for making offers? Or am I just wasting my time?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I agree with you about good renters being a challenge. My two options in that realm are having someone we know rent (friend or friend of a friend, which might be a real option for us) or making use of the interrogation skills I learned in a past life...

Is 2003 pricing realistic for making offers? Or am I just wasting my time?

<p class="MsoNormal"><em>Hopefully this isn’t too long. Sometimes I talk (write) too much. :)</em></p> <p class="MsoNormal">About 9-months ago we tried to sell our condo with no success (we were asking way too much <em>[imagine that]</em>). So we decided to hang on to the condo. Maybe we’ll...

Conflicting Information (Should I stay or should I go?)

Thanks for everyone's feedback. The one big fact is that our main desire is bigger house to live in. If we keep the condo, about $140K of our money is tied up. Would rather use our money for a bigger house than an income property. At the same time we'd like to have some income property, but not...

Conflicting Information (Should I stay or should I go?)

<em>"</em><em>Since you have a 30 year fixed payment well within your means, I think that saving to buy a new home in the future and keeping the current condo as a rental is totally viable." </em> The only thing that worries us is the fact that rental prices may sink well below what our...

Conflicting Information (Should I stay or should I go?)

That is what we're afraid of. But we also have a lot of people telling us that selling my place is the worst thing we can do (people that have made millions in real estate [and no, not as sales people]) since we'll have to rent and not have a tax benefit. These people say long term we should...
