Covenant Hills Homesites for sale

^^Way to pay attention Mighty. It appears she also photoshopped in a roaring fire in the "study" and the Lakers game in the "billiards room" and the "pool retreat" outside.

    Best Camping site in SoCal?

I second Catalina. I have many great memories from Two Harbors. I like the Little Harbor campground even better though it's harder to get to. San Elijo in Carlsbad is very cool too though it is almost impossible to book. I recently checked and they appear to be booked on every weekend...

    Tri Tip, Tri-Tip, help

I would re-consider the "ginormous" Costco tri-tip. They offer a tri-tip in a bag that is pre-seasoned that is very good IMO. And it's super easy - just throw it on the grill and save yourself some time. Left over tri trip is always nice or you could send some home with your guests.

Value village vs neighborhood with charm.

It is kind of funny that someone would call an Irvine neighborhood charming but I think relative to places like GG or even Lake Forest Irvine is certainly "more" charming. My home in Irvine is small and lacks a large yard but think that it has more character than most of the homes in...

    The Future of Urban development

Great post, Savvy. Yes, housing in Irvine is not dense enough to support rail yet it is a major employment center and thus a destination for commuters from all over So. Cal. Irvine, of course, is also home to a large university and John Wayne airport. Irvine is already served by Metrolink...

    Bailout Reality

I enjoyed this interview with Jim Rogers in Business Week. He makes a good point IMO about how the bailout of LTCM led to the demise of Bear Stearns and Lehman Bros. Lots of other good stuff too...

L'Hirondelle Restaurant I liked this place... mostly because they had a nice sampler of Belgian beer

What?s happening in Northwood II right now?

Related to this discussion... I was a victim of credit card fraud a couple of years ago. My wife reported this to IPD who caught and arrested a waiter from Tri-Village Resturant. (I used my card at this restuarant just prior to the fraud). After this experience the organized crime theory is...

Before / After School Programs in Irvine

My daughter is in a CDC program at a TUSD school and I would give this a thumbs up. It's convenient before/after school care, provide breakfast, they help out with homework, etc. I heard the same things about kids having to repeat Kindergarten when they went to a private pre-school. We...

    Inflation vs. Deflation

Rents in Los Angeles (and other areas) are also down.

    Inflation vs. Deflation

How about wage deflation? Last month FedEx announced they were cutting wages and some other notable companies have followed suit. Frankly, this worries me as wage inflation certainly helped to feed price inflation in the 70's. Not sure if there is a corollary with deflation...

Chuck E. Cheese -- more dangerous than your local biker bar?

I think the bigger threat there is germs. I have a friend who calls it "Chuck N. Sneeze" :-)

Give Americans a tax incentive to buy an American Car

Let them go into bankruptcy and have the gov't back the car's warranty. Jack Welch suggested this idea in his column in Business Week.
