Billions of dollars for the bailout and all it does is reduce rates 0.4%

http://us.ft.com/ftgateway/superpage.ft?news_id=fto090920081455449405&page=2 "Mortgage rates initially fell further, but by mid-afternoon in New York the move had halted. An index of Fannie Mae's 30-year current coupon touched a low of 5.07 per cent before it retreated to 5.21 per cent...

Here come the Freddie and Fannie bailouts...

The futures are indicating the market likes this quite a bit so far, much to my dismay, while the japanese index is down. Americans eternal optimists, japanese eternal pessimists, it seems. Dollar not liking it that much, though asian currencies are falling with respect to it so far. Sorry...

    Is this legal?

Just say this on another forum and I was wondering what you guys think: "How I can make an easy $500K I have 4 rental homes, 2 in AZ and 2 in CA. They are all in my name and credit. I'm going to let them all go into foreclosure and buy them back from the auction. I've done the...

    Prime Rate in 1-2 years?

The world financial markets seem absolutely gorged with debt, especially with the coming Freddie Mac bailouts. I can't see how rates for all types of debt woud not increase.

It's Friday - Has your bank failed today?

That one will cost 500M$ to the FDIC. As you can see, it's the state of the FDIC reserves that I'm watching more than the number of bank failures.

HOLY SMOKES : Did i read this right? Dow below 10,000 S&P;1,100 Nasdaq 1500. Is this possible by October?

Any bank that "needs a capital infusion" is not a good sign. I don't know the details and haven't studied their central bank - and I don't know what particular variation of "democracy/capitalism" the Chinese adhere to so I don't know the details. But it says there they have a teeeny 3.2B$ in...

Speaking of bailout, Fannie & Freedie are both down 20% in after-hours on speculation/news from WSJ that the government would bail them out in the next few weeks but potentially wipe out shareholders (same old, same old). In other news, somehow the banks had rallied 3% today. Short or...

Ya well I wasn't too impressed about the part where he basically asks for a bailout: "Over $400 billion in bank - and finance-related capital has been raised during the past year, a decent amount of it, by the way, having been bought by yours truly...
