OC Register: 2011 OC Best Public Elementary Schools

Some parents actually want to avoid too much economic diversity.

    Columbus Square is attractive...

The District just has a VERY bad design.  I just don't like going there due to traffic congestion and I avoid it.  The stores don't have to be busy before the traffic going in and out of the place becomes crazy.  Costco is about the only place that is not too difficult to get to because it's at...

That must be the economic diversity.

This is why I'm (and most Asians) are so F***** Up!

That article almost makes me sick.  There are many Asian parents who would not accept anything but Number one from their kids.  In many cases I have seen, the Asian parent's expectations of their kids are purely unreasonable.  They all want their kids to be Number one in school and whatever they...

    Schools driving home buying...

There are a couple of kids at my son's boy scout who live in Irvine but go to private school in Santa Ana.

    Who are all these buyers?

You are giving me too much credit, Panda.  I didn't really know what I was doing in '95 when I bought my first house.  All I remember is that all of my relatives and my friends were telling me that I was crazy buying a house when the housing market is in the tanks.  They were all telling me that...

    Who are all these buyers?

I am one of "these" buyers and in a group 2 and 3, move up and Asian. I had bought my first small, old house in Irvine back in '95 and moved up to Woodbury Sonoma house.  ALL of my 55% down payment came from the proceeds of the 1st house.  I did not get any help from any relatives or anyone...

New Irvine Home Sales in 2011

Troy High is a magnet school that the students must pass test to get in.  Therefore, only the smart kids get in and you don't have the "dumb" kids to bring the average down.  There is a portion of Troy high that is open to everyone but is only a portion of school. Oxford Academy in Anaheim (all...

    No HOA No Mello Roos

Is it safe to say that they have no "curb" appeal?  :D But seriously, those false curbs do make it easier for cars to creep up on to the sidewalk when they park.  Either intentionally or unintentionally, the wheels and the right side of the car end up on the sidewalk and that never looks good.

    No HOA No Mello Roos

I know West Irvine very well and looked at houses there earlier this year when I was house shopping.  West Irvine is fairly new, so it should be OK for a while.  It's usually when a neighborhood gets older, there will be more "neglected" houses that stand out. I am not saying a non HOA...

    Garage Flooring

My new house garage floor has paint chips.  Actually, paint drippings from paint cans. I thought about epoxy coating, but decided against it.  I figured that once I make it nice and shiny, I have to keep it looking nice and shiny.  I have enough choirs without adding garage floor maintenance to...

    Garage Flooring

The garage floor should be epoxy coated to withstand hot tires and chemicals.  If you simply paint it, then it will peel for sure and make it look uglier than not painted at all.

    No HOA No Mello Roos

I lived in Greentree HOA house for 15 years.  It had HOA which was not strict and had a fee of $63 a month and provided junior olympic sized pool, basketball court, volleyball court, private park, tot lot, and other amenities.  However, one of the big advantage was that the neighborhood was kept...

    No HOA No Mello Roos

Older communities will not have mello roos.  However, many of the older communities do have HOA.

HMID - Is it really going away?

If that causes more people to rent, then the rent price may go up as a side effect.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope you are talking about the fresh cranberries.  I can't stand the jellied cranberries, but I love the whole cranberries.  It's kind of weird, I guess.
