    Tech @ Work

Love the place.  We had an annual family membership that's expired now.  The next time we go, we'll probably get another annual membership.  We've gone enough to make up the cost difference.

    Mobile Phone Poll for RoundCorners

Well, in addition to my personal Android phone, I also carry the company BB phone.  When I get home, it's put on the counter for the night.  I only keep it next to my bed if it's my turn to be on call.  The apps (available and quality of app) for BB are crappy.  For personal use, I would not get...

    Mobile Phone Poll for RoundCorners

Funny you say that because I kinda feel that way too.  I bought a majority of the $0.10 apps that were offered each day.  It was a great marketing move.

    Mobile Phone Poll for RoundCorners

Since I casually got my mid tier (lower now) Android phone, I'm very into the roms/hacks/devs/tweaks available for the Android ecosystem.  But it's not at the point where I'd choose an Android device over an idevice for family members that aren't as technically inclined.  Case in point... got my...

Mobile Nations - Android, iOS, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, WebOS, etc...

Just to be clear, it's NOT -->http://cyanogenmodapps.com/as they are NOT associated with the real Cyanogen Mod dev team.

I'm hoping it's sooner rather than later that all these ridiculous patent lawsuits disappear.  Truly astonishing what some of the patents are and how general they are.  They hamper innovation.  Glad to see that the courts in other countries do make very sensible decisions from time to time.

    Tech @ Work

Not exactly sure of the hardware or software, but it's heavy duty stuff.  We have rooms set for video conferencing that include huge 80"+ screens, dedicated cameras controlled by a touch screen device with multiple windows onscreen to see between sites.  We have offices globally and there is no...

Mobile Nations - Android, iOS, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, WebOS, etc...

The cyanogenmod app store is very interesting.  It's by a very well known and respected dev so it should do well.

That survey is very skewed.  It's based off people at CES.  Those people are there for new tech and it doesn't look good for Blackberry while it does look good for iPhone/iPad.  Very skewed.

2012: Year of the [insert tablet here]?!?

And for tablets, the app store/market is huge and makes a difference.  Win8 tablets will be way behind on that and it would take a lot of work to get devs to get onto that.

2012: Year of the [insert tablet here]?!?

I'm curious what the prices and storage capacities will be for the iPad 3.

    ASUS Transformer Prime

It's the one near the 5 fwy and Jamboree on El Camino.  They had applied the Ice Cream Sandwich update on it too. http://stores.bestbuy.com/774/

    ASUS Transformer Prime

So I was able to go into a Best Buy during lunch and they had an ASUS Transformer Prime available.  It's a beautiful tablet.  Too bad it's got so many issues.  The 7" tablets felt ok, but a little small for me.  The 8.9" tablet felt pretty good.  But I think a 10.1" tablet will be best for me as...

Just got my first email acct hacked...

There could be many ways that they could've gotten into your account.  They could've somehow compromised Yahoo (not likely) and that would be out of your control.  The best you can do is be cautious and run routine antivirus/antispyware scans.  Make sure to a firewall up.  Be extra careful at...

Just got my first email acct hacked...

It looks like the IP address you gave belongs to http://www.lacnic.net/en/sobre-lacnic/.  It's for Latin America and the Caribbean.  I'm probably more paranoid than most, but also check your bank and credit card accounts.  Did you have any financial accounts tied to this email where they might...

Just got my first email acct hacked...

Obvious questions... did you click on any link recently from an email, an attachment, from Facebook or any other social media (ie - Twitter)?  Make sure your anti-virus software is up to date in terms of scan engine and virus definition.  Have a few anti-spyware applications installed (free...

2012: Year of the [insert tablet here]?!?

But for that $199, do you think the specs will be good enough for video, apps, gaming and streaming media?

    ASUS Transformer Prime

I'm definitely not getting the ASUS Transformer Prime now that a newer model is in the works (with a higher price) that will hopefully not have the RF issues (new backplate).  Too many hiccups and hardware issues noted by early adopters of this tablet.  Too bad because it's a nice looking tablet...

    ASUS Transformer Prime

Is the 1080p of the A700 a better choice on a 10.1" tablet?  Is it worth the assumed higher price with a possibly lower battery life (maybe lower performance) due to the higher resolution pull on the GPU?
