I agree with your points, IHO.

2012: Year of the [insert tablet here]?!?

Got through to to checkout on Apple store for the new iPad.  Guess it wasn't super hard to get on pre-order.  Didn't order as I'm gonna wait for the next fangled Android tab to be released.  The no widget, locked system, quasi-multi-task iPad just won't work for me.

Mobile Nations - Android, iOS, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, WebOS, etc...

I got a bunch more apps with the $0.49 promo with the new Google Play.

2012: Year of the [insert tablet here]?!?

I've got to wonder if they'll be coming out with a new iOS version that has multi-tasking.  With the A5X, it surely can handle true multi-tasking.  All that horsepower can't be to just run the higher res screen.

Interesting concept.  I wonder if it'll take off.

    Planning our next vacation

We went to both Kauai (twice) and Maui.  Loved them for the same reasons.  Less touristy.  We stayed at condos so that we could either decide to stay in and cook a meal or two for the kids or go out to eat.  The condo also provided a fridge to store any left overs from restaurants.  They also...

    Planning our next vacation

We thought about it, but decided not to.  Instead, this summer, we'll be either taking a driving trip to the midwest with stops along the way to visit in-laws... or flying out to the midwest and driving up to Canada for a bit.

    water treatment units

And I believe that's the reason why they waste 4+ gallons of water per 1 gallon of filtered water.  The back pressure in the water pressure in homes isn't strong enough to use them efficiently.

2012: Year of the [insert tablet here]?!?

I'm not really sure, but I don't think jailbreaking the iPad will still give you the same amount of control as rooting would on an Android device. Interesting.  I guess if I ever wanted to do some office work on an iPad or Android tablet, I'll try this. That new Toshiba is also sporting an...

For Gecko to take off, it'll really need the developer community and hardware vendors to embrace it.  That will take time if it happens.

2012: Year of the [insert tablet here]?!?

That teaser shot shows a great resolution, but I know that upcoming Android tabs are also supposed to have higher res.  If iOS had more flexibility and did multi-tasking better (or at all), I would seriously consider an iPad.  It's a beautiful product that does what it's intended to do very...

    water treatment units

Good point.  I guess I'll pull out that new RO system we have and install it.  Glad the sink already has the cutout on top for the dispenser.

For some reason, that Padfone just doesn't interest me.  I keep thinking how less powerful it becomes when the phone has to power the tablet.  I'm actually ok with the 4.8" sized screen.  I'm kinda iffy about the Note sized phone at 5.3".

My concern with RO systems is that it discharges some 20 gallons of water for every 5 gallons that is filtered.

2012: Year of the [insert tablet here]?!?

I'm still going for a 10" tablet.  The 7" is too small a screen for my needs.  Hopefully great products are announced next week and release dates are given.  If they give release dates that are at end of summer or past, too far out for me.

Interesting that those images show the iPad 3 might be thicker and bigger.

We've been using the Brita large dispensers (http://www.brita.com/products/water-dispensers/ultramax/) for years.  I also looked at under sink units, but had never decided on one.  My brother just got us a reverse osmosis system for Xmas.  I have yet to install it.  It's some 5 stage filter system.
