    Planning our next vacation

Actually, David Chang just opened a fast casual fried chicken sandwich shop in LES.

    Dow?

Tesla makes a fantastic product, but it's a terrible stock simply because Elon Musk can't be trusted. On top of missing production goals - which is largely the basis of their valuation - he misleads investors on major capital allocation decisions. Two qtrs ago on the earnings call, mgmt told...

American charges a $150 fee for unaccompanied minors. In this case, the parents did pay this fee, which makes it so much more egregious. Given the premium paid, shouldn't the airline actually... I don't know... maybe, watch the children?? The fee used to be for very young children only but AA...

    Planning our next vacation

When is your trip? Since you already know NYC, I'd say skip the fancy restaurants. They're the same in any cosmopolitan city around the world. Go to Lower East Side. Almost everything on Orchard, Ludlow or Essex is unique, edgy, fun, but not pretentious Sweet Chick - hipster take on chicken and...

Sense of Community in Your Neighborhood?

They didn't. This is not our property but this is a similar example. The red line is what they would have built. They have a horizontal stone wall as part of the landscaping like in this example, except it would wrap back around to the house. Instead they just left it open to our property line...

Sense of Community in Your Neighborhood?

Depends. In my family home I remember when when the wood fence between our and the neighbor's backyard kept falling down from SA winds. The respective dad's would keep fixing it but finally our neighbors decided to build a cinderblock wall and asked if we would split the cost. We agreed. In...

    Planning our next vacation

Southern Italy seemed a bit drab to me but I loved the countryside between Rome and Florence. Our group had a lot of young children and they loved the little hill towns. Provence is also similar. Think medieval hill towns, many with intact Roman structures, but with French food. Delish!

    Lakers News

The SwaggyP debacle was stupid of DAR, but he's 19. He was a lot more mature than most people I knew at 19. He took responsibility, was apologetic, answered every question, and continued to play well, if not better. 2nd game after the incident he led an overtime victory over a good Miami team...

Of course not! I give them credit for asking though.

The Rise of Johns Creek, Georgia | Real Estate, Life Style, and Restaurants

Corona in the long run. It's the classic "worst home in best neighborhood" argument. Johns Creek is an affluent area in metro Atlanta. You might get a much nicer home at a good price. But it's Atlanta. Panda has been there since 2010 and ATL has been a growth market this cycle. But you would...

The Rise of Johns Creek, Georgia | Real Estate, Life Style, and Restaurants

Panda, I think it's going to be a losing battle to convince people who live in central OC that there's a better place. It is quite frankly a special place in the grand scheme of things. Temperate climate, good housing stock, vibrant local economy (by local, I mean there's lots of well-paying...

Is it normal 4 seller to ask for bank statements to show proof of downpayment?

Why not just show an account that has funds to cover the down and then some? I'm assuming the loan amount isn't at a level where qualification is an issue.

Is it normal 4 seller to ask for bank statements to show proof of downpayment?

Last sale was to FCB. We asked for this to make sure they had their cash out of China. Once a seller accepts your offer, they can accept backup offers but likely will stop active marketing. You're effectively taking that house off the market, even before a deposit is put down. So it's...

    NBA 2015-2016

Re: hack-a-shaq Heard Rick Barry interview recently and the underhand free throw was discussed. In Wilt Chamberlain's best season, he shot underhand FTs. In his 100 pt game, he made 28 of 32 FTs underhanded. But he went back to overhand after that season because he said he felt like a sissy...

The Rise of Johns Creek, Georgia | Real Estate, Life Style, and Restaurants

Very different investment strategy. Adjusting for cost of living, Corona is a value play. Riverside is its own MSA. Johns Creek is an affluent suburb of Atlanta. 30 minutes from Buckhead, which is the white collar hub of Atlanta metro. However, there are also plenty of other affluent suburbs...

    NBA 2015-2016

Physically yes. As an athlete, no NBA player has ever matched LBJ. I think his flaws are in his personality. He's a much more likable and all around better person than MJ, but he's not what we want from our star athletes. Being wishy-washy about where he plays, calling out teammates but not...

    Toyota moving to Texas

Nope, just spend time down there. I think it's a great place but ultimately Dallas too parochilal. Austin is fun to visit but still a small town and not quite there yet. Houston is diverse but boring and that weather is unbearable compared to North TX.

    NBA 2015-2016

What is interesting is that LBJ's legacy is skewed by the lumpiness of his career arc. Gets to the Finals too early in his career and gets swept. Leaves hometown, promises countless championships, and loses in Finals. Finally wins 2 so looks like destiny is coming to fruition but nope, loses...

Long time Irvine residents reaction to the exploding asian population?

As much as TIC is derided, we should thank them for maintaining the character of neighborhoods. Having a master developer like TIC is a blessing. On the commercial side, other developers which have to pay top dollar for land will need to maximize their investments. That means larger and denser...
